It’s always incredible to watch truly talented people doing what they do best. Whether it’s a singer up on the stage or an artist at work, we can’t help but marvel at their incredible abilities.
It’s even more impressive when the talented individual in question is still a child.
Despite being so young, with so much life to live and so many things to learn, young people of all ages continue to blow our minds with their extraordinary skills, and Addison Leitch is the latest youngster to wow us with her magical dancing talent.
Addison is a 13-year-old dancer hailing from California. Having trained at the Westside Dance Project and the Orange County School of the Arts for Commercial Dance, Addison has clearly been in love with the art of dance from a very young age.
She’s been entering dance contests for several years as both a solo artist and as part of a duet with various other dancers, and she’s won several awards along the way too, claiming the top spot at plenty of different events.
She won the 2019 Junior Female Best Dancer competition, for example, and recently appeared at the NUVO Bellevue 2020 event, wearing nothing but a black dress and socks as she performed her solo dance as part of the closing show.
With choreography by Lucy Vallely of the Westside Dance Project, Addison stuns the assembled audience with her movements as Sinead O’Connor’s ‘Just Like U Said It Would B’ plays in the background.
Right from the first second of her performance, Addison captivates the crowd with her precise, powerful movements.
Alternating between speedy steps, elegant stretches, graceful falls, and emotional expressions, she puts on quite a show over the course of her almost three-minute routine. At times, it almost seems like some invisible partner is pulling and guiding her around the stage, and the whole routine is filled with surprises, changes in pace, and unexpected shifts in style.
What’s really impressive about Addison is how much emotion she puts into each and every movement.
She’s not just performing this dance, she’s living it!
She seems to breathe and feel the essence of the music, conveying so much feeling in every step, and even making her own facial expressions a part of the show as she smiles, frowns, and grimaces at various stages.
It’s a deep, moving routine, and the audience can have their own ideas and interpretations of what the dance is supposed to convey. It’s definitely worth watching the clip a couple of times and studying the movements to find out what you really think about it.
With the soul of an artist, the grace of a ballerina, and the effortless speed and agility of a street dancer, Addison clearly has a whole lot of talent, and it’s on show for all to see in this powerful performance.
And despite being only 13, she’s already achieved so much in the dancing world, being honored for her talent with several 1st place finishes. The sky’s the limit for this youngster, and it’s exciting to imagine just how far she might go in the future!
