Not everyone looks forward to a new school year. But it’s understandable, as kids must trade in their fun times for books and homework.

Fortunately, there’s at least one huge perk about the beginning of the school year when you’re a teen – it means that Homecoming week is just around the corner!

The tradition is all about welcoming students back to the campus and is usually filled with a slew of school-spirited events, including a football game, dance, pep assembly, and more.

According to NCES data, there were 26,986 high schools in the U.S. during 2015-2016 (now that’s a lot of Homecoming celebrations).

While those involved usually take these events seriously and do them up nicely, one cheerleading squad really took their Homecoming performance to the next level.

In fact, their routine has taken the internet by storm too!

Cheerleading is an entertaining sport that at times can produce some “oohs” and “ahhs.”

The members of the MIHS cheer squad put on a performance that made their classmates’ jaws drop.

It all starts with the cheerleaders filing into the gymnasium with their hands hidden behind their backs.

The stands are full of screaming students who are obviously ready to see what the girls had up their sleeves…

More than two dozen cheerleaders take the floor and get into formation.

At this point, their hands are revealed and you can see they’re wearing gloves that blend into the sleeves of their uniforms.

Suddenly, music fills the room and the cheerleaders start popping up in a wave.

Only moments later, they pull a human-domino move that causes people to scream “whoa!”

It’s more than just your average cheerleading routine. Prepare to be mesmerized.

All the girls lay down on the ground, moving their arms and legs in a synchronized fashion. Overall, it gives off the appearance of a fun illusion.

The opposite colors of their sleeves are an addition to the effect.

One viewer wrote:

“That was amazing but whoever choreographed this dance is beyond amazing”

There were additional moves that had everyone awestruck.

A couple of minutes in, all the cheerleaders form a long line and dazzle the crowd by creating waving motions.

It’s really quite incredible to watch!

Another commenter posted on YouTube:

“I keep coming back to this video. I can’t get over the talent.”

Really can’t blame the viewers. And besides, these girls put in so much time and effort into this.

They deserve their moment in the spotlight!

During the video, it seems like the audience is enjoying the entire Homecoming performance. Yet, there’s one move in particular that causes a stunned reaction.

The girls form two lines on the floor and grab ahold of each other’s hands.

They then begin turning their bodies in unison creating the look of a moving pattern. One student, in particular, goes wild and yells, “What is that?”

Someone else online was impressed by the routine too. They commented:

“This is the most insane thing I have ever seen! SOOOO COOL! :)”

Eventually, the song “Thrift Shop” comes on and the girls show off their dancing skills. However, they end the performance with more hypnotic moves.

Can you imagine how much time and hard work it would have taken to learn and practice the routine? Bravo ladies!

Clearly these girls are more than passionate with what they do.

It’s not just the cheering and dancing either. This is about pumping up the school and raising everyone’s spirits!
