Every so often, a group of teenagers sets a new standard for school talent shows.

And this time, it’s a group from Becker High School in Minnesota.

Despite their young age, these teens showcased their passion and talent for rock music, particularly the metal genre, which is known for its complexity and intricate note progressions.

They took to the stage with just a few weeks of practice, ready to rock their school.

The band, humorously named “John Wilkes Tooth and The Plaque Assassins,” drew inspiration from the late President Abraham Lincoln’s assassin for their moniker.

The members comprised of Jordan Maiers handling the guitar and vocals, Luke O’Neil as the lead guitarist, Cody Sakry on bass, and Mark Peterson showing off his skills on the drums.

Their choice of song for the performance?

The iconic “Fade to Black” by Metallica, a track that originally debuted in 1984.

As the song began, the audience was greeted with a slow, dramatic intro, reminiscent of the original Metallica version.

The teens’ rendition was impeccable.

Their timing, chord transitions, and overall coordination showcased the immense effort they had put into their rehearsals.

Maiers, the vocalist, sang in his unique style, not entirely mimicking Metallica’s signature throaty vocals but adding a refreshing touch to the song.

His voice added a soothing quality, making it enjoyable for everyone in attendance.

The guitarists, Maiers and O’Neil, displayed their prowess, effortlessly shredding through the song.

Their dexterity was evident as they navigated through challenging riffs, complemented perfectly by the hard-hitting beats from the drummer.

The band’s synergy was palpable, with each member coordinating seamlessly, guiding the audience through the song’s journey.
