What do you think of when you think of a boy band?

Generally speaking, that term typically makes us think of internationally famous pop groups like the Backstreet Boys or N’Sync. Although those groups are hugely successful and are all adults by now, the truth about boy bands is that they usually start off much younger—and they’re usually all put together because they’re all talented musicians in their own right.

At least, that was definitely the case for one recent group on Britain’s Got Talent.

Much like its American counterpart, Britain’s Got Talent is a reality talent show that showcases a variety of talented individuals.

Though all kinds of different skills and talents are represented, singing and dancing are the show’s bread and butter. Just like the other versions, the judges also have a Golden Buzzer they can use when there’s one performance that particularly blows them away. Still, by the point in the season that this clip is from, there was only one Golden Buzzer left to get.

With all that in mind, these four boys walked out onto the stage.

When they step out, the entire crowd applauds.

Shortly after that, they go down the line and introduce themselves and give their ages. Each of the boys is either 14 or 15 and together, their band is Chapter 13. They explain to Simon that they all knew each other and gradually thought it would be fun to create a band to pool their talents. After getting a “good luck” from Simon, all the boys take their places.

After striking his guitar a few times, the boys set into their performance.

Once they hit the first few notes, they set into a rock-inspired rendition of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder.

As anyone who listens to Stevie knows, his songs require a lot of confidence, funkiness and soul to pull off successfully. He’s been performing for a long, long time, so for these boys to take on his music requires a ton of confidence. Fortunately, they pull it off—and the crowd is on their side almost immediately! Once they hit their stride, the crowd is clapping along with them.

But after a few moments, the boys decide to take things to the next level.

After a pretty slick guitar solo, it’s time for a transition into “I Wish.”

By this point in the performance, it’s clear that this is going to be a Stevie Wonder medley—and the crowd couldn’t be happier! If there was anyone who was on the fence before, they’re definitely all dancing and clapping along now. Needless to say, the boys do a great job covering this one as well—before transitioning into “Superstition” without missing a beat. Although Wonder’s versions of these songs are funky and soulful, Chapter 13 transforms them into hard rock hits.

When they’re finally done with their performance, the crowd gives them a standing ovation.

Before long, even all of the judges are on their feet.

Once the show is over, it’s time for them to get evaluated and critiqued by the judges. First off, they get complimented on how in sync they are for such a young band.

Still, nobody else gets much of a say—because it’s only a moment before Amanda smashes the last Golden Buzzer! The boys can hardly believe their eyes as they hug each other and thank the judges.

Though it goes without saying, nobody is going to forget what they saw that day!

It just goes to show that putting your entire soul into the music will generally translate to success.

Although it’s unclear what will happen in the show going forward, we’re definitely going to be cheering for Chapter 13 to go all the way. Regardless of what happens, we’re excited to see what these boys do in the future.
