Judging the singers blindly sometimes leads to some surprising results. Often, the judges are shocked by what they see when they turn around.

This was the case with a singer named Kennedy Holmes. With her powerful voice, the judges were expecting an older singer. But when they turned around, they found a talented 13-year-old belting her heart out!

St. Louis native Kennedy has been performing for most of her life.

She started singing when she was just two years old, and a few years after that, she began performing at the Muny. Kennedy loves singing more than anything in the world.

All of that experience helped Kennedy when she went onto “The Voice.”

Kennedy sang an incredible rendition of Adele’s “Turning Tables” for her audition. Her voice had amazing depth, and she also had great control. The judges quickly realized what a powerful singer she was.

Just a few seconds into her song, judge Adam Levine turned his chair around. Then, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson, and Kelly Clarkson all turned around together. Kennedy couldn’t help but smile when she saw she had gotten the rare four turns! Out in the audience, her dad started crying out of happiness.

After she finished singing, Kennedy revealed that she was only thirteen. Kelly Clarkson couldn’t handle this—she started jumping around and flailing her arms!

“I think you’re the best vocalist who has auditioned this year,” Blake Shelton told Kennedy.

Then, it was Jennifer Hudson’s turn to give feedback. Kennedy immediately started hyperventilating—she revealed that Hudson was her biggest role model, and one of the first songs she sang publicly was “I Am Changing.” Kennedy asked if she could sing it with Hudson, and Hudson said yes. The pair performed a quick but powerful duet!

After that, it was clear who Kennedy was going to choose to be her coach. Still, though, the other judges tried to get her to join their teams. But in the end, she naturally went with her idol, Jennifer Hudson.

Kennedy continued doing well throughout the competition, and in the end, she got fourth place.

Kennedy has kept busy since the end of “The Voice.” She regularly performs in her hometown of St. Louis. In June 2019, she performed at a St. Louis Blues hockey game.

Kennedy also performed “The National Anthem” at a St. Louis Cardinals game. Everybody in the crowd had chills as they listened to her sing.

Kennedy may not have won “The Voice”, but she had some incredible performances during her run on the show, starting with her first audition. If you’d like to see Kennedy’s viral audition, check out the video below.
