There’s nothing like seeing your teachers cut loose, whether with a dance, a silly game, or anything else that brings them out of their professional shell. But most people probably haven’t seen their teachers bust out into an amazing choreographed swing dance.
To be fair, these aren’t regular teachers.
They’re teachers at Gigglemugs Swing Dancers, a dance school in Padua, Italy. So, they know a thing or two about how to put on a performance.
When the four teachers took to the floor, they were ready to show off a range of movements that are rare to see.
The song was titled “Taste of Boogie”, and that was exactly what they did.
Their amazingly athletic performance combined grace and fluidity with technique, drawing cheers from the audience. It was interesting to see a traditional American dance performed halfway across the world. It goes to show how much the 1950s dance movement touched people all over the planet.
The biggest moment of the routine came at the end when one of the female dancers flipped her partner.
Traditionally, in boogie and other similar styles of dance, it’s common to see women do flips. But it’s a much bigger challenge for a man — as well as for his partner, who has to support him while he performs the move! But they pulled the whole routine off not just with skill and grace, but also with a sense of fun that showed just how much the four teachers love to dance.
Since the video was uploaded in Feb. 2017, it’s drawn more than 15,000 views.
People around the globe love watching the four dancers boogie, swing, and spin their way across the dance floor. It’s an amazing new take on a dance craze that’s close to 70 years old.
“Dancing is one of the best things humanity ever invented!!” wrote one YouTube commenter. “LOVE to watch people like these who obviously love it, and are willing to work hard to thrill others.”
People, while still loving the dance routine, were more amazed by the athleticism of the four dancers.
“Ouch, when they did the splits it brought tears to my eyes!” wrote another YouTube commenter.
The dance school may be in Padua, but the four dancers themselves are from all over the world. Two of them, Agneiszka Cherubisnka and Grzegorz Cherubinski, natives of Poland, are a brother and sister dance team with a long list of awards under their belts.
They’ve performed on television shows throughout the world, earning the titles of European Champions and Vice World Champions.
They’ve also taught swing dance and boogie-woogie on an international platform, including Munich, Moscow, and Italy. Their unique style combines boogie-woogie and Lindy hop with influences of traditional Polish dance.
But one thing is certain: there are few things as amazing as watching dancers who enjoy themselves. Not only could you see the joy on their faces but their students were thrilled to be watching their teachers show off their energetic routine.
