They most certainly take roller skating to another level.

Style, grace, power, excellence.

Four words we all wished we could embody, but what you’ll see here are a stunning 12 minutes of those four words.

World Skate was established as the Fédération Internationale de Patinage a Roulettes, or the FIPR, on 21 April 1924.

It was created to be the multinational European championship tournaments for roller sports.

The FIRS rebranded as World Skate in June 2017, so along with it, the World Roller Games were renamed the World Skate Games.

The 2022 World Skate Games in Argentina was the first edition to use the new name.

And what a way to kick things off.

Bologna blew the roof off the place.

And no, there’s nothing wrong with your headset or speakers. They really did roll out together with no music just to get everyone’s attention.

Then the music comes on, and with it, a voice that talks about Anne Marie Frank.

Team Bologna starts skating, breaking off into separate groups with slow, deliberate movements as each of them glides across the floor.

Power and grace, executed with style.

And on roller skates too. Do you still have yours?

Smooth, sweeping motions across the floor capture the audience’s imagination as the groups alternate and cut across each other.

The music is slow, ominous, and intense, perfect for the theme and the skating flawlessly done here.

Even their viewers were in disbelief with comments like,

So impressive…and on roller skates, too. At first for about 2 minutes I thought they were ice skating. Well done!”

So did we. Here’s another viewer saying,

What they did here was by no means easy and took a lot of practice, rehearsal and discipline to pull off. I LOVE this performance. Good job!!!

Basic skating is already a challenge to most so this performance is a dream for a lot of people!

This must have been the same event scheduled to take place during October and November 2021 in the cities of Vicente López, Buenos Aires and San Juan, Argentina.

But then they announced that the Games would be postponed until 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They kept the plan of hosting the games in Argentina.

And where most performances have teams going for happy, upbeat themes, these guys and girls have gone to a darker vibe.

The stronger, more intense music just works so well for some reason. Who knew, right? You will have to listen to the music as it comes with voice overs seemingly narrating Frank’s experience.

Not everyone is a fan, and not a lot of people appreciate skating, but there is a chance that they’ll love this performance by Bologna.

It is minute after minute of spectacular skating beautifully performed to music that speaks of a dark moment in time.

These guys are so good it makes you want to get back to roller skating.

Don’t hurt yourself trying their moves though.
