Their style is big, bold and bombastic.

When Jordan and Tatiana take to the dance floor, their high energy, intense style makes watching this a chair-gripping experience. If you don’t audibly gasp at any point during their routine, you’re not really watching it.

You may be asking, “Isn’t swing dancing done in dowdy skirts to 1950’s rock music?”

Well, not all swing dancing is the same!

You may not know this but in fact, there is a difference between the coasts! According to West Coast Swing Online.com, there is a vast difference. Where East Coast Swing has more of an old-school charm, West Coast Swing can be pretty diverse.

“West Coast Swing has gained in popularity partly because it can be danced to a wide variety of music genres, including: slow and fast blues, contemporary, hip-hop, pop, top 40’s, and country…The West Coast Swing dancer needs to be a chameleon of sorts by changing attitudes to match the style of music…from sensual & seductive to hip-hop, or from contemporary to blues.”

As well as this key difference, dancers often dance “interpretively”.

This means that they often “hit the breaks” in the music matching it to their moves. This can get pretty wild, and when the music is intense, a good West Coast Swing dancer will hit those beats hard with powerful moves.

And it’s these powerful moves that put Jordan and Tatiana on the top.

The energy that these two bring to their routines is explosive. The song that they’re dancing to is a dubstep remix of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to know”. The original is widely known, but you have never heard it like this! It’s just the kind of souped up song for as gregarious a routine as this!

Including some physics defying moves.

At one point, Tatiana strikes a “running man” pose, and Jordan pulls her and she slides back, creating a frozen running illusion.

And when the beat drops, Tatiana brings the heat!

With the big facial expressions and over-the-top movements that make West Coast Swing so notable, these dancers just keep on giving.

And it’s not just Tatiana who brings the big energy.

Jordan too has the strong performance skills that gives him and his partner the calibre of skills that have made them famous in the world of swing dancing.
