It’s been twelve years to the year the world was introduced to Susan Boyle. A woman who defied the odds, stunning millions of viewers and the judges with her unbelievable voice defying society’s standards that one should never judge a book by its cover.

She broke through the world’s notion that talent should have Hollywood-like beauty to make it big, which won the hearts of many fans all over the globe. This Scottish lady from a small Scottish village ignored the rules and smashed records left and right.

Susan is a force to be reckoned with.

Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen invited Susan to sing at Lakewood church in Houston, Texas. The event was live streamed and the church services received a boost thanks.

American pastor and televangelist Joel Osteen’s sermons are viewed by approximately ten million viewers in the Us alone with several millions more in over a hundred countries weekly. He met his wife Victoria in 1985. And while both husband and wife have been the subject of controversial topics, there is no denying the influence they have on their millions of followers.

You can see how massive the church is.

It’s almost sports arena like in its size, perfect as well for holding big concerts and events. It’s about the right size for Osteen’s services. It is constantly full.

Susan starts singing along with a piano and immediately the church’s audience breaks in to applause. It’s all about inspiration and uplifting moments here and who better to provide that than Susan Boyle.

It is trademark Susan Boyle.

Not too powerful, with a sweet tone and wonderful control, she sings her way into the hearts of the church goers who need their own form of spiritual release from the demands of life. Talk about angelic singing.

The song was originally composed by Secret Garden.

The Norwegian-Irish duo’s song did not resonate in the hearts and ears of the people but the song has had over 125 covers, most notably by the amazing Josh Groban who took the song to new heights with his fantastic rendition.

But Susan is no slouch either.

“You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be”

In a culture obsessed with physical attractiveness, with standards on how a person should look, Susan’s career destroyed society’s expectations cementing her victory song after song as she took on the world.

She is undaunted. Standing tall on the stage, singing her heart out as if it was her own personal story she was telling, Susan shines even though the choir takes over for a moment. This is her night.

Note after note, from verse to chorus, Susan nails the song. Perfectly.

Her fans testify,

“Susan Boyle is living proof that we all have a chance…never give up. Love you, Susan!!”

With another saying,

“It’s beautifully sung, Susan. They laughed at you, mocked you. Now you show them!!! Amazing!!”

In fact, it was executed to such perfection that she received another standing ovation. She’s received so many of those and yet Susan remains humble giving all the love back to her fans. Joel himself thanks her saying she’s always welcome and that they are family. Just one of the many who are more than willing to receive Susan in to their lives.
