When you’re feeling down, music can be uplifting and help soothe the soul. It’s also the perfect addition to the good times too – so it’s no wonder that we surround ourselves with it.

A high school singing group from Tennessee is spreading joy across the globe with their incredible music. But there’s one rendition, in particular, that might bring an extra ray of sunshine to your day.

OneVoice is a world-renowned a cappella group made up of students from Briarcrest Christian School.

Many high schools have excellent music programs for teens to join. But the list of achievements that OneVoice has made over the years is noticeably impressive. Working with director J.D. Frizzell, OneVoice has brought home awards, released their own albums, and performed with other well-known vocal ensembles like New York Voices and Overboard.

Even the Memphis group’s debut album received great compliments. On OneVoice’s social media pages, it says:

“The Recorded A Cappella Review Board called their debut album Another Level ‘One of the best high school albums of all time…a wonderful recording achievement.'”

They have a little something for everyone.

Briarcrest’s OneVoice takes on popular songs from a variety of music styles – including pop, jazz, rock, blues, R&B, and more. They also have a feel-good Christmas album that would be perfect for the upcoming season! And if you’re a fan of hymns, well, they cover those too.

OneVoice released a video for their rendition of “How Great Thou Art.”

Whether or not you’re a fan of the hymn, get ready for a special treat. The high schoolers have voices of angels, which pair just beautifully with the lyrics that many grew up listening to. Mixed with a church and outdoor setting, the results are quite heavenly.

“You guys are terrific – thank you for being who you and for posting an incredible rendition of an incredible song. You made this guy in Georgia get goosebumps”

Several group members take turns with the lyrics. But just wait until they all sing together.

If you are someone who chills easily, perhaps grab a sweater. The sound of their voices blended together is spine-tingling, and watching the passion in their faces makes it even more moving.

OneVoice’s cover of “How Great Thou Art” is leaving some people mesmerized.

Another viewer shared:

“WOW! I love this song & the various renditions. But this, by far, is one of my favorites! I was showing my 90 year old mother, who was a church organist for over 60 years, and she, too, thought it was beautifully done. But even better, my 9 month old twin grand nieces were playing on the floor but as soon as these talented students started singing they stopped playing and watched the entire video without moving.”

Even the song itself has a soul-boosting background.

“How Great Thou Art” was written in 1885 by Swedish author Carl Boberg. His inspiration came after running into a thunderstorm on his way home from a church service. Soon, the storm broke, and there was a “beautiful rainbow” in the clear sky. Once home, Boberg listened to church bells through his window and ended up penning the poem that evening.
