The guitar is probably one of the most popular instruments. Fun, sure, but if you want to make it big then you’d better be good. More than good actually. Some focus solely on being an awesome guitarist, while others go on to be great players with vocals for good measure.
Peyton Littleton is very good.
Looking like a typical high school kid, he walks on to the court with his guitar and glasses on ready to surprise the students of Central Davidson High School. He gathers his courage and… blew everyone’s minds.
He performs Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”, and if this were your stereotypical high school style based film, this dude would have won the hearts of many, even stealing the cheerleaders from the jocks. He is unreal.
Yes, THAT Ed Sheeran. The GRAMMY Award winning singer who won so many hearts with his massive hits and charming village boy looks as he took the decade by storm.
Sheeran’s “Perfect” went all the way to number one on the pop charts, staying there for a very cool 57 weeks. So you can bet everyone in that gym knew the song and were more than glad to sing along with Peyton’s rendition.
Now it is one thing to perform at home where your only audience are the walls and maybe some ghosts. But to perform a massive hit in front of an audience takes guts. Especially in high school. Peyton’s talent is a delight to watch.
He is very unassuming, not an ounce of being pretentious, letting his skills do the talking. Or singing.
This song is such a hit. Just a guy head over heels for this girl, the melody is such a romantic pace that anyone can follow and sing along to. It also shows Sheeran’s brilliance as an artist. It was the very first song he wrote for his third album.
The story being that Ed wrote it for his then wife-to-be Cherry Seaborn, whom Ed knew from school. They reconnected when she was working in New York. So who is Peyton singing to?
“I found a love for me
Darling, just dive right in
And follow my lead
Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet
I never knew you were the someone waiting for me”
Must have been difficult for Peyton after this performance. He’s having to face his new fans every single day. How many new admirers he’s made, one can only guess.
Good for him though!
I mean just look at the crowd wave their cellphones in the air, accompanying his singing with those lights. It looks like one of those fancy presentations during a major talent show. Talk about setting the mood.
Peyton has over 4.1 million views and most of the comments are hilarious. You’ll have to read them yourself though. Here’s a few,
“Kinda feel bad for the kid that goes next”
That’s one of the more wholesome ones, believe me.
“Takes guts to be out there, singing to your peers in HS.”
We’d have to agree with the many other comments and one hopes that some of those made up situations actually came true for Peyton. After all, his smooth playing and silky voice were both really, truly perfect.
Peyton’s performance is stunning and wonderful to listen to. Click on the video below and enjoy it!
