These Stormtroopers Danced On 'Britain's Got Talent'
We're not sure what's more surprising, the performance itself or Simon's reaction to it!

Of all the famous movie villains that have been invented over the years, Star Wars has some of the most immediately recognizable ones.

Anybody who saw the movies as a child likely has images of Darth Vader and the storm troopers marching around giant spaceships seared in their head, or they find themselves humming the “Imperial March” on a semi-regular basis.

These characters are instantly recognizable, and we mostly think of them in their context as the baddest bad buys in the entire galaxy.

But wouldn’t it be fun to turn that image on its head?

As it turns out, that’s exactly what one group of performers on Britain’s Got Talent decided to do.

When their audition starts, two men in full storm trooper costumes walk to the middle of the stage. As they get there, all the judges jaws seem to drop—and Simon Cowell, in particular, looks pretty excited.

Though the judges try to greet them, the two men say nothing. “Who are you?” they ask. No matter what they say, the storm troopers say nothing. At the end, all the judges can do is wish them luck.

With that, the performance begins.

First, the two first troopers walk back off stage into the wings.

A moment later, they emerge again with a full troop behind them! As is only right, they enter to the traditional “Imperial March” from the Star Wars movies.

But a moment later, one of them hits a disco pose—and everyone is confused. After that, some new funky music starts playing and all the storm troopers start dancing and breaking it down! By now, the crowd all have smiles on their faces.

One of the dancers even does a full backflip!

After that, they start into the next phase of doing all kinds of recognizable dances.

First up is the whip and the nae nae, which has all of the crowd dancing. After that, they transition smoothly into the “Gangnam Style” dance by Psy and the entire crowd is on their side.

After that, they shift once again into “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé, complete with all the choreography from her now-iconic music video. At the end of it, all the storm troopers turn around and shake their butts as well!

When it’s finally over, the Star Wars theme song plays again and the judges give them a standing ovation.

Though this performance happened in 2016, it remains one of Britain’s Got Talent’s most popular auditions to date.

In fact, as the judges are deliberating, it only takes Cowell a few moments… before he hits the Golden Buzzer! When it’s all over, Cowell says that this was truly a dream come true. As he explains, he always wanted to see a group of storm troopers dancing on the stage!

Still, all the other judges loved them as well.

As everyone says, it was no surprise that “the real life Darth Vader” gave them the Golden Buzzer…

For what it’s worth, the group is called Boogie Storm and they never explain themselves or their shtick the entire time.

Regardless, these dancers still do performances all around the world—and they chronicle their exploits on their very own YouTube channel. Needless to say, this performance was one for the Got Talent history books.

Congratulations to Boogie Storm on their unexpected performance! Check out the full clip below:
