The Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey was a famous stage to famous rock bands.

The theater was founded way back in 1921, which served as a movie theater. In the 1970s, the venue’s great features like their in-house video system slowly transformed into a perfect stadium for rock music concerts.

The theater ended all their operations in 1989, leaving a lot of people heartbroken because they had made countless memories there. As there was no one to manage or maintain the building anymore, they decided to demolish it in April 1991. Years later, a shopping center called Capitol Plaza emerged on the same spot where the Capitol Theater once stood.

Though it has since closed down, the theater knew they had to go out with a bang.

Before its closure, three more rock bands gave their final show on the stage, leaving people with shows they would never forget. One of them is Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. They performed on September 21, 1985, and it quickly turned into a concert that nobody would ever forget.

This particular song at the concert was one of their best performances.

At the beginning, you can hear Vaughan’s guitar growling as if to signal the band’s next song.

Then finally, the epic guitar shredding started. It took one minute and thirty seconds to finish the sick guitar intro for their rendition of the song, “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return),” which was originally written by Jimi Hendrix.

Afterward, Vaughan approached the stage microphone and sang the song’s verses.

Vaughan’s guitar was like singing with him as it accurately matched with his vocals.

As it begins, Vaughan starts guitar-shredding shortly after a few quick verses. He picks the guitar which in turn produces a whole lot of electrifying tunes. It was a wild ride as Vaughan’s guitar licks and riffs take you to another world.

Vaughan carried on as he pleased, and he just rocked his way through with a fantastic amount of classic guitar riffs that rocked everybody’s souls.

At some point, he started shredding riffs with just one hand on the fretboard. How does one man even do that?

Blasting the theater’s roof with the loud distortions and smooth note bends, he ended his live performance with everyone cheering out of great satisfaction.

Vaughan’s concert was the theater’s legendary send-off.

When Vaughan’s helicopter accident happened in August 1995, everyone was left speechless.

It was an awful tragedy that had the whole world in mourning. It’s been almost 25 years since we lost him, and all we can do now is cherish our memories of him, along with his timeless classics. It is the best way to commemorate the great talent that he left to the world of rock music.
