Every year, talent shows around the world spotlight a handful of extraordinary contestants, and Stephen Barry, a 31-year-old from Kerry, Ireland, is undoubtedly one of them.
He participated in Ireland’s Got Talent and left a lasting impression on everyone.
As Steve stepped onto the stage, no one could have predicted the sheer power and clarity of his voice.
Although he appeared somewhat nervous at the outset, all traces of anxiety vanished as soon as he began to sing, revealing a performer in his prime, ready to dazzle the world.
It’s an audition that blew the judges away.
A seasoned musical theatre performer, Steve chose ‘Somewhere (There’s a Place for Us)’ from the 1957 Broadway musical West Side Story as his audition piece.
This classic song, combined with Steve’s crisp vocals, created a magical moment that captivated everyone from the start and built up to a rarely seen spectacle in talent shows.
The judges, visibly moved by Steve’s rendition, swayed hand in hand, admiring his beautiful voice.
Despite his initial nervousness, Steve mustered the courage to approach the judges and deliver an up-close performance, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Not only did Steve win over the judges, but the entire audience was also spellbound by his incredible opera-style voice.
The applause that followed was deafening, and everyone, including the judges, rose to their feet in a standing ovation.
He’s just that good.
The judges had nothing but glowing things to say.
Judge Denise was particularly impressed, expressing her regret for overlooking Steve in a past West End musical audition.
“I wanted more and more. It was fantastic. I didn’t want it to end. What a voice. I can’t believe I overlooked you the first time. That was phenomenal,” she said.
Steve had also previously auditioned for The X Factor and was familiar to judge Louis Walsh.
Receiving unanimous praise from the judges, Steve left the stage with four resounding ‘yes’ votes.
His remarkable talent, combined with his charismatic stage presence and down-to-earth personality, made him a beloved figure not only among the judges but also the audience.
Steve’s audition is so amazing that it’s racked up views from people all around the world.
