She is a singer-songwriter-instrumentalist from Le Havre who became famous for this performance.

Philippine discovered her passion for music at an early age.

She is self-taught, learning the piano at the age of five. she would accompany her mother in an accordion club where she played percussion for them and then the accordion.

Lavrey was 13 when she decided to learn singing and guitar on her own.

Her talents are clear to see and hear as she serenaded the audience with the folk classic.

It’s a song covered by so many artists since it lends itself well to individual styles.

Paul Simon wrote this song over several months in 1963 and 1964.

That’s a long time ago, and yet the song still has us listening intently thanks to its words.

It was released in October of 1964 to commercial success,and that led to Simon and Garfunkel disbanding.

Until 1965 when the song started playing on the airwaves again, leading to Tom Wilson, the producer, to remix the track by overdubbing it with instruments.

The song was re-released on September 1965, though Simon and Garfunkel had no idea of what was done to their track.

Philippine here knew what to do with it, adding her own style to the ballad and impressing all who were watching and listening,

“The Sound Of Silence” is considered a classic folk rock song, and was added to the National Recording Registry in the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically important”.

And it is always such a pleasure to listen to.
