There’s nothing quite like the sights of Christmas lights decorating a home. It’s a telltale sign that the house’s inhabitants are really in the spirit and want to be merry all the way.
But then there are those who go the extra mile by installing multi-colored lights that dance. And it is just spectacular to watch regardless of your age and status in life.

YouTube channel and user rvandecar decided to share his light display dancing to “The Sound of Silence”.
It’s not the original Simon and Garfunkel tune though, but rather a cover by a band called “Disturbed”. The American heavy metal band is known for heavy, hard-hitting tunes perfect for weightlifting in the gym or pro wrestling.
That may seem odd to some but it really works.
Vocalist David Draiman’s signature aggressive style of singing is replaced by a lower, cooler tone with still a bit of that edge he’s so known for. The lyrics work well for the band’s image anyway!
It was Paul Simon that wrote the song in 1963 and 1964. The original recording of the song was released in October of 1964 but it was a commercial failure that led to Simon and Garfunkel going their separate ways.
In 1965, the song began to attract airplay in different radio stations, leading to Tom Wilson, the song’s producer, to remix the track.

That’s when the song began to rise in popularity, leading to Paul and Art getting back together to write and record new music.
Now that song has stood the test of time, enduring to this day in its original version, and many other renditions by up and coming musicians and big names in the industry. And a house with LED lights.

The uploader says there wasn’t much of a change with his electric bill too.
It’s not like he’d care since he went through all the trouble of picking and choosing the lights, colors, and which one goes where. Then he has a remote to program and time all those lights for the “dance”.

So just imagine what his neighbors must have felt seeing his house fully illuminated and dancing in the night.

This is when “Hello, darkness, my old friend,” was actually seen in space. Or close.
You’ve got to admire his creativity. It would have been all too predictable had he made his lights dance to Christmas carols (not that we’d mind), but using Disturbed’s rendition of Simon and Garfunkel’s classic took everyone by surprise.

No way Santa would have missed this house. Not unless Rudolph and the others got blinded by the dazzling display. Ebenezer Scrooge would have HATED this house.

But it’s the ending, the last part of the song, when the instruments fade out and the drone flies up that really does it. As the music stops and the view shoots up, the lights die out leaving a blackness of… silence.
