There have been few artists who live up to the caliber of vocalist that Whitney Houston was. Her abilities were truly God-sent and her music was something that helped to lift up our world.
So, it’s nice to see younger generations appreciate her work even though she is no longer with us on Earth.
Though there have been many who’ve tried, there’s no one who can recreate a Whitney Houston song and have it be as beautiful as it was when she sang it. That’s was until we saw a 9-year-old autistic boy Dane Miller’s car karaoke version of Houston’s 1993 “I Have Nothing” which was on “The Bodyguard” soundtrack.
Dane, who hails from Prosper, Texas, was filmed giving the song everything he had in true Whitney Houston fashion while driving in a car. His aunt, Jeanne Miller, posted a video of his performance on Facebook with the caption:
“Is this boy not the sweetest thing ever?! He loves to sing. Whitney would be proud #getthatboyamic #mynephewDanerocks.”
That video went on to be viewed more than 27 million times on Facebook since she posted the video in July.
“He is just very vibrant,” Jeanne told ABC News. “He’s very high-functioning so if he hears music, it’s just something that sticks with him. He’s very proud [of the video]. He just smiles and giggles.”
According to Dane’s mom, Danna Miller, Dane learned the song from his 13-year-old brother Dawson.
“He kept playing it in the car and Dane has fallen in love with it,” Danna told Inside Edition. “He has put his own touch on it.”
Dane also loves Taylor Swift, Kidz Bop Kids and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
“Nine years ago God blessed us with this amazing child,” Danna said. “We are so humbled and honored that we were chosen to raise such a joyful and loving child. Here is just a little taste of what we experience everyday.”
Apparently, Dane is no stranger to music.
“He’s been musical since around 2-years-old,” Danna told Inside Edition. “He’s been playing the drums. he sings. He loves music. He puts his whole heart into everything he does.”
That’s very obvious when you watch the beautiful clip of Dane’s performance as he sings the song with his entire body belting out the lyrics and making gestures with his hands.
Dane’s family says they are glad that he was able to bring as much joy to others through the video as he brings to them each and every day.
