A well choreographed and well executed dance is just always such a pleasure to watch no matter the style or genre.
Check out this dance by Alyssa Huleatt and Julian Surdi done to “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi.
It’s one you’ll want to replay over and over again for sure.
Capaldi’s hit is one you will mostly hear in karaoke bars, or being covered by an amateur singer at a local bar.
It’s not often someone dances to it, much less a couple.
Alyssa and Julian execute a flawless mix of ballet, interpretative, and almost a hint of ballroom.
What this is is a dance that narrates the lyrics of the song.
And you’ll only realize it when you get to the last few parts of this really cool dance.
And the viewers are loving it with comments such as,
“This generation took what dance was, and created something just way above the bar and amazing. For me, watching dance as a child was dull. This is amazing!”
“Goosebumps!!! The dancing is amazing and so is the acting. Incredibly beautiful performance!”
No extra props or overly done lighting here either, just pure talent.
Check out Alyssa Huleatt’s Instagram account and you’ll see that she really is a dancer.
She doesn’t stick to just one style too, as is evident by her pictures.
The category here is “Open Duet”.
It’s an event called University Dance Challenge by Terpsichore, and they’ve been at it for 18 years running!
Alyssa and Julian didn’t even bother with fancy costumes.
They probably didn’t want to take away the attention from their actual dancing, and they made the right choice.
Some may argue that these two lacked presentation but maybe that was the entire point.
The focus was on their seamless routine, which told a wonderful story through movements.
But Alyssa’s bending will have you wondering if she’s even human, considering Julian towers over her so much.
Their movements are so fluid and yet so powerful, a combination only real dancers will understand.
To us who aren’t as gifted, it is a little hard to comprehend.
But it sure is fun to watch!
Julian is really impressive, moving in sync with Alyssa even though he is visibly bigger.
Look how smooth he executes their moves, and perfectly done together too!
Then you have the splits.
Alyssa and Julian show off a few moves only done by real pros.
Moves that require exceptional balance and strength.
The type where injury could occur when not done right.
She only comes up to under his chin, but the size difference seems to be working in their favor for this dance.
You have to wonder what it took for these two to come up with the dance.
Then the many days and hours of practice to get it perfect just for this competition.
It’s a dance meant to leave viewers shaking their heads, that’s for sure.
