Most people think of farmers as hard-working individuals who grow crops or raise animals. In some cases, they do both. But as one video posted to social media shows, sometimes, there’s more to farmers than meets the eye.

Meet Jay

Having recorded and shared several videos, Jay has become known as the “dancing farmer.” He’s a great person with an interesting story. As he explained to his viewers, at the age of 16, he suffered a horrible back injury. That resulted in multiple surgeries, as well as never-ending pain.

Spending time in the barn

As a farmer, Jay has a lot of responsibilities. One of those involves caring for animals. He spends time in the barn, cleaning stalls and sweeping up hay. Despite his pain, this guy found a way to feel better while making other people smile.

He dances

Of the many videos Jay’s made, one was recorded on an extremely cold winter day. Although the outside temperature was minus two degrees, he had work to do. To capture himself dancing, Jay set up a camera. But often, he gets so focused he forgets it’s even there.

Spur of the moment

This farmer also stated that he never knows when he’s going to dance. As an avid music lover, he always has a song playing while in the barn. On this cold day, he was listening to Desperado by Luis Fonsi.

He starts slow

At the start of the video, which has garnered tens of thousands of views, Jay’s seen sweeping hay. Goats and sheep are in pens around him. But as the music plays, something takes over. Slowly, this farmer begins to dance.

Feeling the music

He quickly glances over at the goats, pulls down the front of his hoodie. And with the broom still in his hand, you start to notice a slight change in him. While subtle, he begins to sweep to the beat of the song.

The beat picks up

As soon as the tempo of the song becomes faster, Jay bends his knees and starts swaying his hips from side to side. The moves are small at first but he nails them. This isn’t anything you’d expect to see from a farmer.

It gets better

Right with the beat, he sweeps and shuffles forward. It’s as though everything around him stopped except the music. Jay might be a rough and tough farmer with a bad back but he’s got some cool moves. Some women even say he’s sexy.

He gets serious

The longer the song plays the more serious about his dancing Jay becomes. Not only is he using more floor space in the barn but his moves grow increasingly more dramatic. His dancing is impressive.

Complete freedom

About halfway through the video, Jay gets down. He’s totally into his dancing and loving every minute of it. And the people who’ve watched this video enjoyed it. To think this man uses music and dance to cope with pain is amazing.
