Weddings usually include a beautiful, scripted ceremony and a reception where a couple’s family and friends celebrate love together.

These brave women who were in a four-year relationship originally planned to get married in October.

Coronavirus pushed those plans a little forward. Amanda, who is a trainer at a gym in Manhattan, was worried that she would lose her job or health insurance. Amanda’s now teaching online fitness classes but her colleagues were laid off. That is the main reason why Reilly suggested that they simply get married at once, without any special plans or wedding reception.

They shared the news with best friends, but the City Hall closed the Marriage Bureau the day before these two were scheduled to get married. All hope was lost—or so it seemed. A close friend finally suggested to officiate the marriage from his apartment window and marry them right away.

The two brides wore sneakers to their wedding because they had to walk ten blocks from their home to Bennett Avenue, where the wedding was held.

Their guests were the closest friends, all of whom respected the rules of social distance and were several feet away from each other. Symbolically, their friend read the passage from the “Love in the Time of Cholera” at the beginning.

Many people followed this special and amazing wedding from their apartment widows or their cars. Photos were being taken and they both smiled and shined all the way through.

This wedding serves as an inspiration because they found happiness in the most unusual circumstances.

That’s what true love and romance are all about. At the end, they screamed “I do” so that the officiant could hear them from his window.

Hard times like these could use more positive examples like this one!

A wedding like this serves as an example that life has to continue and that we have to do the best we can with what we’ve got. We suppose it’s not easy to opt for a wedding like this, but when you have no choice, the least you can do is make the best possible social wedding you can have. These women were happy, they radiated joy and love and spread it around to make other people happy too. Though it goes without saying, love and laughter seem to be the best medicine.

Amanda and Reilly taught the world the spirit of resilience during this crisis!

They FaceTimed their parents and couldn’t hug their guests. Everyone was keeping their distance and their friend wore gloves when he signed their wedding documents. A lot of hand sanitizer was used that day. Even so, we’re sure that Amanda and Reilly will have some great stories to tell about their wedding during the time of coronavirus.
