What’s your favorite movie soundtrack?
Even if you don’t have an answer, we can all agree that a movie’s music goes a long way in determining its emotional impact. As just one example, Quentin Tarantino’s movies have often had interesting scores and songs attached.
One example is “The Lonely Shepherd” from the soundtrack of 2003’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
The piece features the very relaxing sound of pan flute, but the composition’s been played on other instruments, too. What we haven’t heard before is the same track on the guitar with the reverse slide neck. Why? Because such a guitar didn’t exist before.
Luca’s innovative paying techniques have granted him performances all across the globe.
Born and raised in Italy, Luca Stricagnoli is an acoustic guitarist known for his unique approach to music. He’s not afraid to experiment with the guitar, both in how he plays it and the way his guitar looks.
Luca’s famous for playing around with the shape and form of his instrument.
Sometimes Stricagnoli adds an extra feature to the guitar, and it varies from an additional neck to the instrument’s build modifications. Luca is the man behind all those innovations. However, those interesting ideas come to life thanks to the guitar designer, Davide Serracini.
You can check out the Serracini guitars on the official website.
We’ll just say that every guitar is different, and you won’t find another one that’s the same as the one Luca plays. Stricagnoli’s signature instrument is designed to be extra stable, and that’s achieved by making the guitar neck the one with the body. Minor 7th magazine described Luca as “one of the most exciting new players on the acoustic guitar scene.” According to their review, “he bypasses the normal limits of the acoustic guitar, and adapts it to any musical genre.”
Luca’s debut album What If came out in 2017, and it was a big surprise.
That’s when he first presented his guitar invention, and it caught the interest of numerous musicians, including the bands Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Walk Off The Earth. He’s currently working on a new album Change of Rules, and the track from this video will be part of it.
You don’t see this kind of amazing complexity on guitar every day!
Firstly, Luca has clearly a talent for some serious multitasking.
If you look closely enough, his fingerstyle playing is impeccable, and the additional neck makes it ten times more complicated. We can almost say that he plays two guitars, not just one.
The reverse slide neck is basically another guitar neck with the fretboard turned upside down.
We understand that it might sound confusing, but anyone who’s intrigued to find out more can check out the information on Luca’s website. The additional neck can be added and removed whenever you want, and the flexibility is simply amazing.
On top of it all, he also manages to do some incredible tapping on the acoustic guitar, giving the whole performance the much-needed percussion sound.
The performance earned more than two million YouTube views, and Luca got thousands of comments for his performance.
A little over half a million people are subscribed to Luka’s YouTube channel, and millions have seen the video that was published earlier in 2020. His fans agree that he’s one of the best contemporary innovators when it comes to the acoustic guitar, and he should be credited for that. We’re guessing that Luca’s playing will probably make him a superstar in the future!
