By now, you’ve probably heard all about the “Git Up” challenge. Sparked by musician Blanco Brown from his “Git Up” song, it’s been all the rage for some time. But usually, it involves either two people or an entire group. In other words, seldom do you see it performed by just one person.
There’s no question the “Git Up” challenge is a blast. As a mix of hip-hop and country, it’s something people from all walks of life and ages can do. What makes this particular dance-off, so unique, is that everyone gets to put their spin on it. Yes, it’s a type of line dance…sort of…but no two performances are the same. That’s one thing that makes all the videos online so fun to watch.
He’s going solo
As mentioned, there are few videos of one person doing the “Git Up” challenge. So, when a man decided to do that, people noticed. But, this wasn’t just any man. For one thing, he’s a real cowboy. The other thing? He’s a cop. You’ve seen military personnel, doctors, father and daughter duos, and more…but now law enforcement is taking its turn.
This cop made Tyler, Texas proud
Hailing from Tyler, he wasn’t interested in doing a so-so dance. Instead, he wanted to make the police department and members of the community proud. And boy, did he. In a video that’s now gone viral, you first see him drive into view in his patrol car. Sitting on the ground…a cowboy hat, of course.
He’s not the only cop to do this challenge
Across the country, many law enforcement agencies have jumped onto the bandwagon. Not only is the “Git Up” challenge fun, but it’s a great way for officers to show their communities that they’re normal people just like them. Overall, it’s been a great way to break barriers.
This cop gave others a run for their money
Right on cue, he gets out of his car and walks over to the cowboy hat. He looks at it for a second, then puts it on. But not in the way you’d expect. Using the tip of his cowboy boot, he flips it in the air and into his hand. Now that’s how a real country boy does it.
Oh my gosh, his footwork is amazing
After flipping his hat a few times with his hand, this cop gets down to business. It’s easy to see from the start that he has some serious rhythm. He begins with some fancy footwork, does a few twirls, shimmies his shoulders, and grooves his hips. He’s so good, it’s hard to take your eyes off him for a second.
Even his slides are spectacular
When Blanco calls out the words, “Slide to the left,” he does. But for this cop, it’s a performance, not just a dance. He tips his hat, uses a lot of hand gestures, and has his facial expressions down to a fine art. Every move is perfect. I have a feeling this guy has dance in his background, although he probably won’t admit it.
You don’t want to miss watching this video.
You’ve probably seen some impressive “Git Up” challenges but this one blows them all away. This cowboy cop is 100 percent entertaining. I don’t know about you, but I’d almost be willing to speed in Tyler for a chance to get pulled over by this cop. Just saying, he’s a great dancer and super easy on the eyes.
