As anyone who has ever attempted it and fallen over immediately will know, ice skating isn’t easy! Most people struggle to even skate in a straight line or stay upright on the ice for 30 seconds or more.

But then there are people who seem to take to the ice like fish to water. It almost seems like they were born to skate, floating and gliding gracefully around the rink.

Whether you’re talking about ice hockey players or professional figure skaters, it’s always impressive to see what people can do with blades on their feet and nothing but ice all around them, and this stunning skating performance is one that might just blow you away.

Everyone knows Bohemian Rhapsody. Even if you’re not much of a rock ‘n’ roll fan or a Queen lover, it’s just one of those classic songs we all know and admire.

The song has featured in countless movies, musicals, TV shows, and more, but it’s rare to hear it out on the ice!

Well, attendees at the Canadian Synchronized Skating Championship were in for a treat when the NEXXICE Senior team stepped out into the rink and the classic Queen number began to play.

As the unforgettable voice of Freddie Mercury rings out around the arena and the slow, melodious start of the song begins to play, the skaters glide into action, flowing gracefully around the rink in perfect synchronization with one another.

It’s quite amazing how well the skaters stay in sync, even while spinning around, lifting their legs, and trying to keep their balance during some challenging maneuvers.

Wearing beautiful black dresses, the skaters put on a performance that matches the music beautifully, but how would they handle the more hardcore sections of the song?

As we all know, Bohemian Rhapsody starts slow but gets pretty fast and bombastic as it continues.

And when Freddie cries out that famous line, “I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all,” the skaters totally change rhythm, lifting several of their partners up into the air, much to the delight of the audience.

Then, when the operatic section of the song kicks off, with its nonsensical lyrics and bold beats, the skaters really crank their performance up to the next level!

They start spinning around in circles, linking arms, gliding side-by-side across the rink, and captivating everyone’s attention.

They even finish up with one final impressive flourish, with the one male member of the group performing a handstand right out on the ice as his partners pose around him.

It’s such an energetic, exciting routine, and it’s great to see that these skaters truly paid homage to such a legendary song with an equally iconic performance.

For those who follow skating, the group’s incredible performance should come as no surprise. The NEXXICE Seniors have been World Synchronized Skating Champions on two separate occasions, as well as being National Champions 11 times! Check out their amazing abilities in the clip below.
