Sister Delivers Hilarious Maid Of Honor Speech

April 29th, 2020

Speeches. Some hate giving them, some need tons of preparation and rehearsals, while some are just really gifted speakers. Now depending on the platform, speeches can either be full of empty promises and lies, others motivational, while the rare few actually engages the crowd.

For bridesmaids and groomsmen, it takes a certain amount of tact and decorum as they will be mingling and meeting members of a new family. During the wedding at least. Come reception time and everyone’s had their fill of alcohol, it becomes a different story.

Whether it’s the groom’s best man giving the speech or the bride’s maid of honor with the microphone, someone is going to get roasted.

This video of a maid of honor giving a speech at her sister’s wedding reception was posted by the beaming bride herself. Perhaps as a way to look back on a good laugh, we don’t know but it’s gotten over 7.5 million views with 68k likes and that’s saying something about her sister’s mic skills.

Heidi Garcia has been married to David Garcia for five, well six years now and in the description, thanks her sister, Mel, for “such a wonderful maid of honor speech!!”

The sisters look lovely and Mel, in her basil green dress hits it off with a smart comment that really makes a lot of sense. She goes,

“Well I’m glad I had a bunch of Johnny Walker Blue before I came here so I can be prepared for this.”

That intro drew some laughs already and it’s a promising start for what was to be an epic speech. David and Heidi know it’s on. Well they asked her to do the speech part so…

Mel speaks with a sort of dry, sarcastic tone which really adds to her with and punch lines. She goes on to thank David’s family for welcoming them with open arms, and then goes on to thank her side of the family for “being here on time“.

“My mom told me two things: Don’t burp and don’t curse. Well mom, you get one thing. I’m not gonna’ burp.”

This lady should do stand up comedy. She’d make a lot of money. Look at how David and Heidi look to their right, probably mom, giving her sheepish grins. No, but go on, Mel.

She goes on delivering her speech injecting her jokes here and there, which actually tie in rather well with the event. Listen to them applaud her though!

Mel unfolds a sheet of paper and reads from it. Words that were supposed to be heartfelt but with Mel, they just rolled from her tongue like she didn’t care much, matching her tone with a drab and dull expression on her face. She’s great!

“It’s really hard to come up with anything nice to say about Heidi that hasn’t already been said by my parents ’cause she really is the favorite. I mean, ideal child.”

Heidi’s younger sister goes on roasting her eventually thanking Heidi for allowing her to “be the black sheep of the family for the past 24 years.”

At this point, both sides of the family have done nothing but laugh at Mel’s sardonic and satirical speech. All in good fun of course. She goes on this time with sincere and moving words trying to hold back her tears giving David and her sister all her love and support as only a cool sister and future aunt can do.

Mel has the gift of moving people to laughter and tears. She has a way with words that not everyone has and not everyone may appreciate but she keeps it real. She’s definitely one cool sister. And maid of honor.
