You’ve heard of whistle while you work? Well, how about breaking into song?
That’s what these two contractors did and it’s earned them a spot in the hearts of viewers everywhere!
Dubbed “The Singing Contractors” by their fans, Josh Arnett and Aaron Gray have been building together for the last six years, but they’ve been friends since they were 13. The two grew up together in Indiana, singing in the church and entertaining the locals with their beautiful harmony. Arnett is now a father of four and lives in Fortville, Indiana; Gray has three kids and lives in the neighboring town of Lebanon.
Their friendship has been the foundation for their construction business and they began singing on the job, much to the delight of their clients. That’s when Aaron got the idea to record it and post it on Facebook.
The rest, as they say, is history.
The video immediately went viral (over 40 million hits!) and earned Josh and Aaron an invite to sing on the Fox and Friends Morning Show in New York City! Along with their co-worker (and fellow singer) Pastor Paul Bigger, The Singing Contractors performed How Great Thou Art – the same song from their original video – for a national audience.
And it’s not too hard to see why they’re so popular.
Besides their choice of uplifting gospel music, Josh and Aaron are all acapella, mixing their beautiful harmonies with the heartfelt lyrics from their songs.
Since their debut, The Singing Contractors have also done interviews and performances with local stations from ABC, CBS and WGN. They were also featured in People Magazine in December 2016, as the contractors who spread Christmas cheer while hanging drywall.
And yes… The Singing Contractors now have two CDs. The first includes 10 of their top gospel pick, including How Great Thou Art. The second CD is called Simply Put, and includes God Bless America as well as 8 gospels favorites.
Now, while some might be swept away from this kind of newfound fame, Josh and Aaron balance talent with a heavy dose of humility, as both suggest a higher power should get the credit.
“We are so overwhelmed and humbled by the response our music has received,” they wrote on their website. “We certainly never expected our “work fun” to turn into an awesome platform for God to be glorified!”
They also continue to cater to their fans. They recently sang You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban at the request of a viewer on the internet and they’ve added some Christmas carols to their repertoire as well.
