Simone Biles has broken another record and made headlines once again.

Even if you have absolutely no interest in gymnastics, chances are you know Simone’s name. She is one of the most famous gymnasts in the last 10 years, perhaps in the history of the sport.

For years now, Simone has racked up record after record and continued to prove she is Team USA’s Golden Goose in the 2020 Olympics.

Simone is now in the first place as a woman with the most World Championship medals, after successfully getting her 15th gold medal over the weekend. She has 21 in total.

She was previously tied with Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina but finally edged her out. Svetlana hasn’t competed since the early ‘90s, so it won’t be a competition between the two on who is Number 1. No one currently competing is even close to Simone’s 21 medals, in fact.

Simone is now two medals short of taking the overall title from Vitaly Scherbo. He currently holds the record for men and women with 23.

Like Svetlana, Vitaly hasn’t competed since the ‘90s. He earned his 23 medals while competing for Soviet Union, Belarus, and CIS.

It’s only a matter of time before Simone takes the title from Vitaly and truly has dominated the sport of gymnastics.

People have suggested that Simone is the greatest gymnast of all time.

It is hard to argue with that when she now has not one, but two moves named after her. And she’s only 22 years old!

In order to get a moved named after them, a gymnast must formally submit for it to be approved and then they need to successfully land the move at a major competition. Like a World Championships or the Olympics.

While on the balance beam, Simone executed a beautiful double-double, which is double-twisting double backflip. That excellent move is officially the Biles.

During her floor routine, Simone landed a triple-double, that is composed of a double backflip with three twists. From now on, that move will be known as the Biles II.

If you think earning two moves named after you in one night is impressive, it obviously is. But Simone already has two moves named after her, for the double layout with a half turn in the floor exercise, and the roundoff half on, front layout double twist vault.

The video of Simone perfectly executing the Biles move was shared on the NBC Olympics Facebook page. It has gotten nearly 3 million views, 75,000 likes, 2,700 comments, and a whopping 28,000 shares.

One YouTube user commented on how effortlessly Simone pulls off these moves:

The Crazy thing is that she does a Double Double off of the beam and makes it looks so easy…. I cannot think of another gymnast that would be able to even try it without getting injured. People don’t realize that it’s amazing she can do this consistently.

What do you think? Is Simone Biles the greatest gymnast, male or female, of all time?
