There have been some truly incredible performances on America’s Got Talent over the years.

If you’re a fan of the show, you know just how incredible some of the people who go on it are. Sometimes people come on with instruments, sometimes they perform covers and sometimes they do their own original songs.

Regardless of what it is, no matter when you tune into America’s Got Talent, you’re bound to see something incredible. Still, after watching for a while, we tend to notice that most of the auditions go more or less the same way.

That’s what made the audition in this clip so exciting.

The performer in the video is Daniel Emmet, a classically-trained singer with an operatic voice.

After walking out and introducing himself to the judges, he explains that he’s going to sing a song that he wrote himself! The judges are surprised and the entire crowd gives him a round of applause.

After a few moments, the music plays in the background and Emmet is ready to get started. Though it goes without saying, Emmet’s voice is absolutely incredible—even if nobody in the crowd knows the song.

Although the performance is great, there’s clearly something on Simon’s mind the entire time.

Sure enough, after a few more moments, Simon yells out for the performance to stop.

Everyone in the crowd is pretty confused as Simon asks Emmet if he prepared another song that he could sing. When Emmet says he doesn’t have one, Simon gives him a lecture on being prepared for auditions.

As he explains, it’s not just about being talented—it’s about choosing the right song that will connect with the audience. After that, Simon gets another strange look on his face. “There is a song that actually would be amazing for you,” Simon says. “I wish you’d sang it.”

At these words, everyone is even more confused—what song is he talking about?

After a few more moments, Simon asks one of the producers a question.

The two of them have a conference for a moment before they come to a decision. “Alright, we’re going to do something unusual as well,” Simon says. “I think you deserve another shot.” At that, Simon explains that the judges will pick a specific song for Emmet to learn and that he’ll be brought back out later in the show to perform it.

Although Emmet is definitely excited to have the second chance, it’s clear he’s feeling the pressure!

Later on, they bring Emmet back out to perform his second song.

After much ado, Emmet is finally ready to give his audition a second shot. The song Simon has Emmet sing is “Passera” by Italian group Il Divo, a heartfelt and dramatic song that’s perfectly suited for Emmet’s incredible voice. In this second song, it’s clear that Emmet is connecting with the audience much more than he was before!

Even though he only had an hour to learn it, Emmet knocks it out of the park!

Although there have been plenty of memorable performances on America’s Got Talent over the years, this one was particularly special.

Even though Emmet had been off to a good start with his first song, something about it just wasn’t connecting with Simon. After giving him a second shot, Emmet was able to master a new song in under an hour and blew the whole crowd away! Competition shows like this one put the contestants under so much pressure—but fortunately, Emmet handled the challenge perfectly.
