The Orgill family of Highland, Utah, has been keeping a unique Christmas tradition alive since 2012. In 2019 – they released a brand new video that’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit. We enjoyed it while waiting to see what they come up with for 2020.
Ugly Christmas sweaters were worn and moves were busted
Get ready for more than a dozen dancers, some Kelly Clarkson, and lots of Christmas sweaters! Who knows, it may inspire your family to bust a move too.
After Thanksgiving comes and goes, there are certain things you can rely on. Stores will be full of shoppers, Christmas tunes will fill the air, and the Orgills will release their annual dance video on YouTube.
While they decided to take a break from the holiday tradition last year – their growing family is back with a new routine that’s spreading cheer. In fact, it’s their 7th video and contains “8 siblings, 2 parents, 5 in-laws, and 4 nieces/nephews.”
Every family has their own traditions, especially around the holidays. For the Orgills, theirs began in 2012 after the siblings surprised their parents with a choreographed dance.
Over the years, the Orgills have covered holiday hits like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Drummer Boy,” and “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Other family members have joined in on the fun as well.
Sweaters courtesy of mom’s closet
But what makes these videos even more fun is all of the Christmas sweaters! Everybody wears a different top that just so happens to come from the mom’s closet.
One of the brothers, Ammon, explained to ABC News:
“They’re all our mom’s sweaters. She loves these sweaters, and she’d pull one out every Christmas. She’s got like 10 of them.”
2019’s video takes place in the backyard, which is different than their classic living room scene. However, it’s just as entertaining as ever.
Below you can watch the Orgills show off their dance skills to Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath the Tree.” Not only are they a talented group – but it’s a tradition that’s once again brightening people’s day.
After the video was uploaded, fans of the family have been leaving comments. One mom wrote:
“Woo hoo, let the Christmas season start! Your videos are a Christmas tradition at my house. My three boys love them.”
Another woman named Jayme posted:
“I love watching your video every year. Still trying to convince my family we need to do this! So much fun!”
By no surprise, the Orgills have a blast creating the dances together (can you imagine all the practice?).
Of course there’s some “squabbling” too, but that’s to be expected with a group that size. In 2016, Ammon explained to ABC News:
“…at the end of the day, we all do love it. We love spending time together and how it all brings us together.”
Collectively their videos have been viewed millions of times, which are shared on Ammon’s YouTube channel. They’re like little Christmas gifts that bring joy to the internet every year.

Hopefully, they’re already planning a new dance for next December too. With how big their group’s getting – mom better invest in a lot more sweaters!
