Losing a parent is never easy, but it is important to find a way to keep a loved one’s memory alive. One group of siblings lost their mother to cancer. They formed the band We Three Formed when they were just kids and have been making music together ever since.
Joshua, 27, sits at the drums and keyboard, while Bethany, 24, and Manny, 21, sing and strum guitars.
Their father had his own sibling band and helped them form their own. Before their mother died, she helped them, as well.
When their mother passed away, they wrote the song “Heaven’s Not Too Far Away.”
They played in on a recent episode of “American’s Got Talent” and brought the crowd and judges to tears. The heartbreaking lyrics include:
“Honey I thought you should know that I’m in a hurry
I’ve got to move up north, but it’s just temporary
I really tried not to lie, but this burden’s getting heavy
No, you can’t come with me this time, you got your own destiny
When I look at you I see your beauty
Now my baby boy he’s gonna lose me

And I didn’t think I’d go this way, can I please have one more minute
No honey I don’t want to go, please know that I have to
Look how the cancer has grown, I think it’s time I go home

And I can still feel your hand, when it touches my skin”

As death rattles my cage, I can hear their voices fading
Each breath getting harder, I can hear the tears coming from my daughter
And to her older brother, he’s thinking back when he was younger
When he had a healthy mother, who asked him to take care of his little brother
And he’s not really sure about life, or that how could any of this be right
But I know my babies they will be fine, cause they can talk to me anytime
Cause, heaven’s not too far away, I know someday you’ll visit

Their father was watching from the wings, as well, and was in tears.
Even host Tyra Banks couldn’t keep her composure and was sobbing by the end of the song. The powerful words are all too real and heartbreaking, and their instrumental talents are amazing.
It’s not just the words that have the audience captivated, but the way they sing, as well.
Each one has so much passion in their voice that you can tell that they are really singing for their mom and are feeling every single word that comes from their mouths.
When the song was over, everyone was on their feet.
The trio got a standing ovation, and the judges had nothing but good things to say. Their mom was watching them from heaven and smiling down on her three talented kiddos. Their tribute was special and touched everyone who heard it. These musicians should be very proud of themselves. Everyone is waiting to hear what they come up with next.
