We found a family where all siblings are equally musically talented, and they put on a Hendrix-inspired show that will leave you in awe.
Meet the Children Medieval Band, who surely know their way around a sheet of music. CMBOfficial really did wonders with this “Purple Haze” cover.
Before you ask why Hendrix, we’ll tell you…
Jimi Hendrix was one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes Hendrix as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.” A lot of artists have challenged themselves to play some of his songs—some were successful, others not quite. However, seeing a child playing “Purple Haze” is an epic experience.
Stefan, Olga, and Cornelia are barely teenagers, but the list of their musical accomplishments will amaze you.
The trio lives in Southern California, but their family is originally from Romania. So far, it’s they are the only children band playing Medieval and Rennaissance music (though they tackle other genres, too). In 2011, the CMB siblings started posting on YouTube. They quickly became known as huge Rammstein fans, and the famous German band gave them a shoutout.
In 2012, Rammstein saw children’s cover of “Sonne,” the band loved it so much that they featured it on their official website.
Needless to say, it propelled the kids to stardom. Later in 2012, the CMB kids opened up the Rammstein concert in Denver, which made them the youngest band ever to play in front of such a large audience.
Just a year later, the children had their first live show, a one-hour concert that included 15 songs.
Even more impressive is that they were only 11, 10 and 7 years old at the time!
All three of them picked up different instruments and started practicing for one hour a day.
Today, all three are talented singers and multi-instrumentalists.
The oldest child, Stefan, plays the guitar, violin and keyboard.
His younger sister Olga also plays the keyboard and violin.
Cornelia, the youngest sibling, is an adorable drummer—but she can spice things up with a harp, too.
The video of them playing at home got almost one hundred thousand views, and the interesting family garnered over 11,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel. So, they are in a room, with their instruments set, and the music begins. The famous “Purple Haze” sound fills the space, and you’ll be surprised by their playing.
All of the kids are on point, and they manage to capture the essence of the song perfectly!
The little one on the drums is a true pro—she’s just sitting there, enjoying herself while playing some good old rock. You can see right away that these kids are monster talents. The fact that they did justice to a Jimi Hendrix song at such a tender age means that they’re destined to go places!
This might be the best cover by kids we’ve ever seen.
It’s the complete package: the playing, the singing, the stage presence.
These children have it all. Stefan’s powerful voice, Cornelia’s drumming and Olga rocking that bass line like a true guitar hero—it hardly gets better than this. We’ve checked out some of CMB’s other videos, and it’s hard to wrap your mind around the fact that they’re so young. They have already released four albums, and they don’t plan on stopping any time soon. We love how they described their goal “to promote the good rock—sincere, rebel, strong and heartfelt.” Well, guys, we wish you the best of luck!
