Do you believe in magic?
Whether not you do, it’s always fun to see a magic show. Suspending disbelief for the duration of the show has a way of taking your mind off of all your worries. Sure, we know it’s all sleight of hand and smoke and mirrors, but isn’t it such a joy to let yourself be wowed by a talented magician?
When America’s Got Talent winner, Shin Lim, went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to do a magic trick, Jimmy had no idea what was coming.
Now, Jimmy is known for a lot of things. From his lip-synch battles to collaborating with The Roots, Jimmy’s become a household name. Another thing he’s known for is his ability to be easily spooked or surprised by his guests’ antics. Surely, a magic trick is sure to get a pretty big reaction from him.
When Shin Lim starts his trick, it’s not too unlike most card tricks we’ve all seen time and time again. But rest assured, you’re going to want to stick around for the end of this one. It’s going to really blow your mind.
He asks the Late Night host to pick a card from the deck without letting him know which it is. After a bit of shuffling, Shin Lim revealed that the card is at the top of the deck. Impressive, but nothing we haven’t seen before.
Then, he takes it a step further.
Once again, after some shuffling and decreased odds, he finds the card exactly where he thought he would.
Alright, what’s next?
Another round of shuffling and Shin Lim asks Jimmy to check an unexpected place.
When Jimmy sees what he’s done, he simply can’t believe it.
But wait, folks, it doesn’t end there! There’s one more level to this sorcery. You’re just going to have to watch the video below to find out what it is. I will tell you one thing though, you’re definitely going to be left scratching your head at this one!
There’s something about Watching Jimmy Fallon do his thing that just makes you happy. He’s got such a childlike wonder. We should all take a note from him and remind ourselves to get in touch with our inner children every now and then.
Shin Lim’s talent and stage presence are out of this world, and he’s a joy to watch for a different reason! It’s incredibly difficult to make a name for yourself as a magician, but he’s done it. What an inspiration! If you try hard enough at the things you love to do the most, there is a chance that you’ll make it to the big leagues someday.
I’m going to be scratching my head at this magic trick for the rest of the day. How did he do it? How did the card end up in that very well-concealed spot? I guess this will be one mystery that never gets solved, as a magician never shares his or her secrets.
There’s something so satisfying about a “simple” card trick. No need to turn to expensive equipment or assistants in flashy sequined leotards. Sheer talent is enough to impress me! What about you?
