Some of the best performances on reality competitions aren’t friends or couples, but are in fact siblings!

Typically, siblings audition for shows together. But not Shameer and Shaquille Rayes!

The two brothers made headlines after they auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent. Their auditions caught the judges attention, but so did the fact that they weren’t auditioning together.

The two brothers, who are 19 and 20 years old, look very much alike but are not twins. They even named their performance duo after this, NoTTwins, so people wouldn’t get confused.

The brothers went to the Salford’s Lowry Theatre together for their auditions but took the stage separately. Shaquille auditioned with an original song he wrote about his father called “Crescent.

After Shaquille went, it was Shameer’s turn to show off his moves. His audition really impressed the judges because his style of dance is like nothing they’d ever seen before.

The judges teased him when he walked on the stage, suggesting that’d he had just been there, as his audition was right after his brothers.

Alesha Dixon asked Shameer if was singing or dancing. When he told her that he was going to dance, she then asked him who inspired him as a dancer.

“My mom. Because she was a dancer and she gives me that fire and that passion to go out and do it.”

He even gave his mom a shout-out, saying that she was once on Top of the Pops, though he’s never actually watched the show himself.

Shameer’s dance was inspired by the idea of a puppet coming to life. With his lanky legs, he really pulled this off expertly.

After his audition went viral, Shameer spoke with Metro UK to explain his decision to audition for Britain’s Got Talent.

“I saw the ad and my mum was just like ‘go for it’ – she’s always been my biggest critic and biggest fan at the same time. So for her saying go for it was her saying “I think you’re amazing and you should definitely go for it and you’re gonna win”. So here I am.”

While Shameer was dancing on Britain’s Got Talent, his brother was singing for their father who is currently battling cancer. Their mom was able to accompany them to the BGT audition, but sadly, their father was too ill to travel.

Shameer told Metro UK:

“He’s doing good – he’s still maintaining positivity and is really proud of me and Shaquille. From how my dad is, he’s always had balance in his life and control. He taught me it was ok to have emotions and to speak about things.”
