Performing flawless ice skating is a herculean task, and only those with plenty of talent and poise can pull it off.
As it turns out, ice skating has been around for a long while—and its history is pretty fascinating.
The origin of the sport tracks back to several thousand years ago and was first done by the Scandinavians.
Early skates were made of splinter bones from reindeer, elk or other mammals.
They were first used as a traversing tool to get across icy lakes and frosty rivers. Their primary purpose was to expedite hunting, fishing and transportation during winters. From being used as a surviving tool by Old Norse people to the modern art form of dancing, ice skating has seen some remarkable times. It is confounding that a sport of such elegance has such a rugged history!
Still, the art now has more to do with elegance than survival.
And no stage is better to show off elegance than a World Championship!
Figure skating (or simply ice skating) has been an indispensable part of winter sports for a long time. The sport has many annual sports competitions and is even part of the Olympic Games.
People all over the world flock to be a part of the spectacle, and these siblings made it worth it.
These siblings won the hearts of many people with their traditional performance at the World Figure Skating Championships.
The event is the most prestigious ISU Figure Skating Championship and has given the world countless great performances over the years.
Everything about the performance—whether movement, grace, confidence or control—was perfect.
The level of technicality displayed was marvelous, and the siblings did everything with pure perfection. They performed many intricate moves with such ease, and everything was incredibly smooth!
The siblings performed their routine to a traditional song “Eren’s Green Shores,” and it proved to be a perfect combination.
The siblings, Sinead and John Kerr, scored a total point of 186.94 and ranked seventh overall in the competition!
For those who don’t already know, the Kerr siblings have had a pretty illustrious career in their field.
The duo is both from Edinburgh, Scotland and has collectively won many honors.
They are European bronze medalists and British national champions, though they have since retired.
The video was later uploaded on YouTube and a lot of people are loving it!
