It was the last pep rally of the year for Lake Mary High School, and principal Dr. Donna “Mickey” Reynolds was going to make sure it was going to be a pep rally to remember.

The high school is located in the Orlando suburb of Lake Mary, Florida and they have an extremely talented step team called Unity Revolution. Step dancing can take many forms, but “stepping” is popular on many college campuses within their fraternities and sororities.

According to Wikipedia, “stepping or step-dancing is a form of percussive dance in which the participant’s entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. Though stepping may be performed by an individual, it is generally performed by groups of three or more, often in arrangements that resemble military formations.”

Dr. Donna Reynolds was new on the staff this year and wanted to do something that would make her stand out to the students.

Donna knew that the students missed their previous principal who had recently transferred to a different school, so to set herself apart, she conspired with Unity Revolution to join them during the last pep rally of the school year.

In the video below, Unity Revolution takes the floor in their uniforms, and the music begins; the students roar in applause as the team stomps, steps, and claps in perfect unison. Their routine is energetic, powerful, and crowd-pumping.

Not long into the routine, as the cheers roar from the stands, Donna joins Unity Revolution on the floor. She too is wearing their matching uniforms.

Donning camouflage pants and a ‘Unity Revolution’ t-shirt, the students realize that their new principal isn’t walking on stage to make an announcement — she was going to join the step team for the rest of their performance.

Donna lines up in perfect military formation with the rest of the team, and it isn’t long until she has all of the students in a complete uproar. Thankfully, a student’s mom named Becky Godwin was there to witness and capture the entire moment.

The entire gymnasium erupts with even louder cheers than before as their principal danced front and center with the step team. Donna stomped, clapped, and danced with the team in total synchronicity.

The principal continued to finish the rest of the routine with the team; it’s clear that she had been practicing for months. For most likely having never ‘stepped’ before, she pulls off the difficult and precise moves as if she’s been doing it for years.
