14-year-old Sara James took off to the stars with this incredible rendition of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” on America’s Got Talent.
The Polish native took to the AGT stage impressing Simon Cowell so much during her audition round, that the judge pressed the golden buzzer.
And it really was a performance worthy of gold.
This time, James fired up her rockets for a strong cover of Elton John’s signature song.
Rocket woman!
“I really have to make this performance inspire,” says James.
And she did just that as you’ll see with the audience and judges’ reactions!
Dressed in silver pants and shirt, the young singer took to the skies with an atmospheric twist to Elton John’s 1972 hit which had the audience hushed and stunned the entire time.
“This girl is absolutely unbelievable!!!! This night just changed her life forever.
She will without a doubt be the next huge celebrity on the Billboards!” says a viewer named Bueller.
You bet she is!
“Rocket Man” was her second performance on the show.
This performance will determine if she makes it into the finals.
But by the looks of things, James is a sure bet with this amazing performance.
“I didn’t know his music that well and then I watched the movie Rocketman,” James explained. “It was so amazing and inspired me to do the song tonight.”
That’s the beauty of music and film.
It can inspire people in so many different ways that it brings out the best in them.
Her rendition of John’s classic had James received a standing ovation from both the judges and audience.
“I am actually very emotional for you right now because I know how much this means to you,” said Cowell, also adding that James made a “genius” song choice.
“I think you are going to find that Elton John is going to be retweeting the song.”
Is he? did he?
A bold prediction by Cowell but no one knows if Elton John did in fact see and share this awesome rendition.
James, for her age, has such an impressive command of her voice.
And her presence on stage is certainly very magnetic.
There’s a charm to her, a charisma that’s rare to find in young singers.
And that’s what the judges often look for. It’s one thing to have talent. But that “presence” on stage is hard to find!
Heidi Klum called James “absolutely amazing,” while adding, “I also have to give it to Simon. You sure know how to pick the stars.”
Howie Mandel went on to say, “It really was a winning performance. Your look, your poise, your talent is that of a superstar.”
And with James, they are absolutely correct.
Not a lot of aspiring young singers would think of covering classic hits.
The risk of butchering the song and receiving negative feedback is all too real so most would shy away from the challenge.
But James is different.
To think that this episode wasn’t smooth sailing for the judges.
Simon Cowell called one act a “fantastic mess,” while Howie Mandel labeled another “a little gimmicky.”
Heidi Klum also said one act felt like it belonged in a “middle school talent show.”
She’s from a small town in Poland but it’s pretty evident now that there’s nothing tiny about her talent.
James is confident, strong, and ready to fly away in a blaze of light.
Who knew that Polish rockets were blazing hot?
With shows like AGT, sometimes, just participating is enough to put your name on the list of music execs.
There have been many singers who went on to become famous without winning a talent show.
But in spite of her stunning vocals, James remains humble.
“It’s crazy, it’s mad,” she said. “I’m just a teenager from Poland, I don’t even know what I’m doing here, do you know what I mean?
Thank you so much to all the judges. I’m so grateful.”
With an attitude like that, this young Polish wonder can touch the stars on her rocket.
