We know what salsa’s all about, right?
How hard could it be? Well, leave all the assumptions aside because we found a couple to show you just how demanding the routine of a salsa champion can be.
You might remember this fiery duo from America’s Got Talent or World of Dance.
Karen Forcano and Ricardo Vega brought the house down with this incredible performance at the 2016 World Salsa Summit.
They certainly know the way around the dance floor, since it didn’t seem too hard for them to win the title of World Champions in Professional Salsa Cabaret.
Karen and Ricardo have competed a lot throughout the years, but you’ll most likely recall those fantastic dance routines they had on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent, and during season 2 of World of Dance.
The amazing dance duo act we get to see in the video is originally from Santiago, Chile.
Today they work as Latin dance choreographers and promote their work on social media.
More than 399,000 people follow them on Instagram, and they don’t plan on stopping any time soon. If you’re impressed by what they do, you can consider supporting them on Patreon.
After being announced in Spanish, Forcano and Vega come on stage.
They’re tall, athletic and tanned, and they both sport huge smiles. Everything’s flashing before our eyes, you can’t decide where to look because the way they dance is incredible. And those sparkly outfits are amazing—especially the one Karen decided to wear.
We have to admire one thing over and over again, but the fact is that the woman is doing all this in her heels!
It’s nearly impossible not be blown away by this performance—they’ve got some mind-blowing moves. This routine goes way beyond what any person can conceive, because it goes much further than the “left foot, right foot” most of us are still trying to get down.
They are extremely talented, without a doubt.
Still, we wonder just how many years of practice does it take to become this good. It seems like a life-long dedication for Karen and Ricardo.
Jumping, spinning, moving left and right and floating through the air—you’ll get to see all that and much more here.
There are a couple of moments in here that will have you in disbelief. By the end of the first minute, Ricardo grabs Karen’s hand and a spin just like that, all before landing on her feet smoothly.
A few more spins follow right after and Ricardo takes Karen in his arms, throws her down and catches her before she hits the floor.
It actually happens a few times, and it happens fast. In case anyone was wondering, the catchy song they dance to is “Guaguanco in Japan” by Jose Chepito Areas.
Karen and Ricardo received the highest score in the World of Dance history at the time.
That’s right—the judges awarded them with an incredible 99.7 score.
Seriously, if you liked this choreography, which eight million YouTube viewers probably did, you should see some of their World of Dance performances. It will leave you speechless.
We wish them the best with plans—we’re sure they’ve got more incredible performances ahead of them!
