Dancing is something we can all more or less do, but with varying degrees of success! There’s a clear difference between bopping your head to your favorite song while driving to work and entering a world class dance competition, and it’s astonishing to see just how good the best dancers in the world really are.
The greatest dancers of all seem to live and breathe music, feeling the rhythm pulsing through their bodies and moving in perfect synchronization with every beat.
They have an extraordinary talent and work hard, day in and day out, to hone their skills, becoming better at what they do and developing their choreographies, hoping to be rewarded for their efforts with a big prize or top place finish at a major dance event like the World Salsa Summit.
That was the case for Ricardo Vega and Karen Forcano, two stunning salsa dancers who stepped out onto the dancefloor at the WSS 2016 World Champions event.
Hailing from Chile and Argentina, Vega and Forcano are known as some of the best Latin cabaret dancers on the planet, and even their entrance to the floor is super stylish and lively, with Karen shaking her hips and Ricardo stepping out in a flashy open shirt.
To make their opening even more impressive, Karen and Ricardo adopt the craziest starting position we’ve ever seen as Ricardo lifts his partner high into the air and holds her gracefully in place before the music kicks in.
As soon as the music starts, Karen and Ricardo become lively balls of energy, diving, spinning, twirling, and leaping across the stage like acrobats. Mere seconds after starting, they prepare for one of their best moves of the show, with Ricardo holding Karen’s hand and twirling around her again and again, with the roars of the crowd getting louder with every single spin!
They seem to move so effortlessly with such incredible speed and precision, which shows just how talented they are and just how much time, dedication, and passion they put into their routines.
Speaking of passion, this routine really is one of the hottest around! Both dancers move with so much fire and energy, barely even pausing to take a breath as they make the stage their own. And some of the moves they pull off are simply astounding, especially when Ricardo lifts Karen up and spins her around and around in the air.
There were plenty of other talented dancers in attendance at the 2016 event, but after such a mindblowing performance, it was hard to see how anyone else could win the grand prize!
Fittingly, Ricardo and Karen did end up becoming Salsa Cabaret World Champions at the show and they’ve featured in many other events since then, consistenly proving themselves to be two of the best dancers in the business.
They’ve been dancing together since 2009, winning over 20 national and international titles! They even appeared on the second season of NBC’s World of Dance and made it all the way to the Division Final, just narrowly missing out on a spot in the World Final and earning an Emmy nomination along the way.
