We remember him shooting up bad guys in Die Hard, and playing Meryl Streep’s panicky husband.
Bruce Willis has cemented himself as a household name.
But now, thanks to an unfortunate aphasia diagnosis, the 67-year-old actor is retiring and spending time with his family.

His daughter, Rumer Willis, did what any sweet and responsible daughter would do and helped break the news with some words of love for her dad. The actor has 5 children, and since his retirement will be spending a lot more time with him as a family.
Rumer shared some fond memories of Bruce’s younger days with her.
Fans love seeing Bruce just being dad to his kids. In one of the photos, you can see him goofing around and making silly faces with them.

Bruce can be seen in this photo rocking some sunglasses and looking mighty dashing. The bathrobe probably sells the confidence here too.
It’ll be tough to see one of our favorite film stars step away from things for good.
But we’re all only human, and his health and family are his top priorities now.

Another thing that’s not easy is loving someone with a brain condition. Aphasia doesn’t make you forget things the way Alzheimer’s would.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.” – she wrote

We might look at Bruce Willis and only see his fame and status. But to Rumer and her siblings, he’s just dad. In many of the photos from Rumer, Bruce is happy to look as silly as he can just to make his children smile.
“I love you Daddio, to the 🌙 and Back. Thank you for teaching me to be so silly 😜 I love laughing with you.” – Rumer said in another caption

It might be just a few short words, but they paint a clear enough picture of how silly and loving of a father Bruce was.
His wife has admitted that caring for Bruce at this time hasn’t been easy, and has significantly affected her mental health. I’m sure Bruce appreciates every ounce of love and support from his wife and kids though, obviously. These things aren’t easy, and they’ve never been.

As we bid Bruce farewell on his exit from acting, let’s also not forget how important it is to have family that can care for you when you need it most.
