Ed Sheeran’s music is loved by everybody for three main reasons.
First of all, it’s relatable: teenagers and adults can alike can understand the stories he tells. Secondly, it’s wholesome. The lyrics are mostly appropriate and straightforward, and anyone can sing them easily. Finally, his songs also have great rhythm—a rhythm that makes listeners want to dance.
One group danced to Ed Sheeran’s song “Perfect” and made it even more meaningful through their choreography.
What they performed looked almost like a courtship dance. The first person to show off the dance floor is Cleiton Oliveira, the man who choreographed the entire thing. With nimble feet and swaying arms, he executes his moves with a swagger that’s so expressive.
His solo was impressive, but things get even better when he grabs the hand of a lady in the crowd (who seems to be his girlfriend)!
When it was time for the chorus, the crowd went wild when Oliveira lifts his girl. There are giggles and cheers throughout the dance studio as the two of them kiss!
The segment turns out to be a dance for couples in love.
After their performance, the other dancers follow suit by doing the same thing the first couple does.
No matter what the individual moves are, they all kiss their partners in the end. All of the couples showed pure love on the dance floor, but most captivating of them all were the oned wearing matching yellow shirts.
They went all lovey-dovey on the dance floor while the others in the back were jumping up and down, cheering them on. You can really feel the couple’s love when they hug each other—their dancing is a direct extension of their relationship!
Since it was posted, the video has become hugely popular on YouTube.
As viewers can see for themselves, the timing of everyone’s moves is so perfect with the music! All the dancers are able to convey Sheeran’s message so well. Since it was posted on June 13, 2018, this video has been viewed more than 79 million times.
Even to this day, plenty of aspiring dancers are probably watching this video to copy or reinvent this choreography!
Some of the YouTube commenters were quick to share their opinions on the performance as well.
One commenter highlighted the video’s romance, writing:
“It’s lovely. I wish I could find true love so that we [could] dance to this music during our outstanding wedding.”
The fabulous choreographer behind it all is Oliveira.
Oliveira is a dancer who had his humble beginnings in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He rose to fame when he choreographed Compagnie Kafig, a popular French hip-hop company.
In 2012, he became a sought-after international instructor and after that, he founded Rioswag studio that same year. His social media accounts are getting more and more popular because of his inventive dance moves!
