A line dance is not just any choreographed dance but also a social tool that people use to interact with strangers—particularly in country-western bars and social clubs.

Line dancing is also often performed on several special occasions. The routines or dance steps are usually easy to perform that even newcomers could jump in whenever they want. Now, line dancing has evolved to the point that it is mixed up with various dance styles and genres from all around the world.

This line dance group in South Africa shared their passion for the traditional culture of Western line dancing.

Rodeo Girls, an all-female line dance group based in South Africa founded by Lientjie Bayman, had been following the American way of performing the line dance.

They have been performing their dances wearing traditional country-wear like cowboy hats, boots and Western-inspired costumes since 1989.

They have been recognized as the first group to introduce this tradition in South Africa and had even racked numerous awards for representing South Africa in the field of dancing.

Furthermore, they have traveled the world to inspire more people to pursue this fun and interactive dance tradition.

In one of their videos, they wore the colors of the American flag as they bust out some moves on the dance floor.

The Rodeo Girls appeared to be standing as they wore an elegant red, white and blue dress coupled with red boots and cowboy hats.

Anyone watching will also see an American flag hanging in the background as the dancers wait for the right time to start dancing. The song that starts playing is from Austrian country musician Ernie Oldfield and the song is “Say Hello,” originally written by Peter Jordan.

Their smiles grew wide as they danced to the lively tune of the song.

It is greatly satisfying as you see them stepping side to side, turning around and clapping their boots on the wooden floorboards. The synchronization of their graceful movements was just on point that even the frills on their dresses swing almost the same compared to the rest of the members. You could find the re-uploaded clip of Rodeo Girls’ performance on the Semeš Recording YouTube channel where it racked up 10 million views after it was posted in 2010.

You could notice the dancers were of different ages and even the younger ones were able to show the same skills as the seasoned dancers of the group.

For plenty of years since the group formed, Lientjie Bayman has continued to welcome new additions to the dance troupe as they march around the world performing their line dance routines.
