It’s awesome that so many “classic” music artists are still coming out with music.
For anyone who loves music from the 70s and onwards, there have been a TON of reunions, new albums, and great music coming out from artists we probably never expected to hear from again!
Take ABBA, for example!
ABBA, the musical group that wrote MEGA hits like Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen, recently reunited and put an album out!
Titled Voyage, it details them coming together and what it was like on their break as they matured.
Although ABBA is great, they aren’t who are talking about today!
Rod Stewart released a new album too!
“Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry. With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records worldwide.” – Wikipedia
Rod Stewart is an iconic British singer and has been making music since the 60s!
It’s borderline impossible that you haven’t heard at least one of his songs at some point in your life.
From hits like Maggie May, Baby Jane, Downtown Train, and more, it’s easy to appreciate the impact he’s had on the music industry.
What’s more, he isn’t quite done!
Although he’s well into his seventies, he’s still releasing new music!
He recently went on the Kelly Clarkson Show to sing a single off his new album and it’s awesome!
If you love Rod Stewart, you NEED to check it out!
Kelly Clarkson gives him a quick intro before allowing Stewart to do his thing.
With that classic raspy voice, he launches into a song that has immediate draw to it.
It’s interesting to listen to, especially with how “modernly” pop it sounds!
The plucky guitar and the driving kick drum make it seem like you are hearing a Phillip Phillips song for the first time!
As Stewart sings it’s clear that his musical style has evolved, but his lyricism has stayed consistent.
The background singers behind him (who are singing live, mind you) with a banjo and violinist really give the doing such an interesting vibe.
If I had to describe it, it would be a “folky-pop-hit” mix.
There’s even a moment when one of the background singers comes forward and has a singalong conversation with Stewart!
It’s rather funny, but he makes it work! Aside from the lyrics, there are classic “Stweart” lines that remind you that the music may sound different, but the writer is clearly the same.
It was great while it lasted, oh yeah
And together we smashed it, oh yeah
There’s just one more thing to do, oh yeah
I know that I can keep a secret, baby can you too?
Stewart’s album is titled “Tears of Hercules” and is currently available to stream!
If you liked that song, you should definitely go give his new album a listen.
It’s hard not to feel a TON of nostalgia listening to one of the all-time greats as he comes out with new music!
