When you start out life with the short end of the stick, it can be incredibly hard, if not impossible, to make your way up on the ladder of life.
If you come from a place of privilege, it can be hard to understand what it’s like to come from nothing, and it can be difficult to empathize with those who don’t have it as well off as you do.
But at the end of the day, we’re all just people trying to make it to the next day on this big blue blob we call Earth. No matter what class you come from, no matter how much money you make, no matter where you lay your head down at night, you’re no better than anyone else.
For Robbie Hance, life has not been a cakewalk, to put it lightly.
His mother had to work three jobs when he was little, and that still wasn’t quite enough to care for her children. So, Robbie ended up bouncing from home to home. Understandably, he never quite clicked with any of the families, and he learned to keep his head down and try his best to fend for himself.
If you can only imagine, this can really wear down on a person’s self-worth. Society places so much pressure on people to make buckets of money and have some kind of big, important, “real” job. But it’s just not that simple, and frankly, unattainable for so many people.
For Robbie, music has always been his saving grace. It’s the thing that makes him remember that, yes, he is worth something, he does have talent, and he does deserve to be happy just like everyone else.
As he takes the X Factor stage to prove himself, his shoulders are a bit slouched and his chin isn’t as high as it could be. He looks a bit disheveled and frazzled. When the judges ask him where he lives, he has to tell them that he’s currently homeless.
That can’t be an easy thing to admit in front of a huge crowd like this, let alone on national television.
When Robbie starts to sing, the judges look around at each other in disbelief.
They’re all touched by his performance and the soul that goes into it. However, they think that he could use a little more confidence in his approach.
The smile that appears on his face when the judges tell him that he is an incredible talent and that he has the potential to move other people with his voice is beaming with joy. You can tell that he hasn’t heard someone say something so kind to him in quite a long while.
Do you think that Robbie deserves the chance to make a name for himself that the judges gave him after this performance?
If anything, at least now he knows that he shouldn’t give up and that he has a talent that he can share with the world, that could potentially put a roof over his head.
I wish Robbie the very best and hope that he can find true happiness. He deserves it, don’t you think?
