Pursuing your creative dreams is definitely not easy.
Depending on what stage a person is at in the process, they probably are facing different challenges. For one thing, it takes a while to figure out your own voice and what you want to say.
For another, it may take some time to find a community of like-minded people. Beyond that, it obviously takes talent, presence and dedication. Still, anyone who performs or creates with a group of people faces another unique challenge.
You have to motivate more than just yourself to keep going.
That was the problem that one group who performed on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 faced.
Like any other performers, the group of 12 all walked out on stage and introduced themselves to the judges. They go by the name Revelation Avenue and they’re a Gospel choir.
As they explain, they’ve all been together since they were in school—but they broke up for a few years. Still, they got back together and came to audition on the show to give their dreams another go. Next, the judges ask the choir if they think a choir can win the show… and they say yes.
Still, judge Simon Cowell says that they just saw one of the worst choirs the show has ever seen…
Regardless, the judges clear the way for Revelation Avenue to do their stuff.
After a quick round of applause, the group gets into formation and the background music begins. A moment later, they start singing “Roar” by Katy Perry. At the beginning, a delicate female voice starts it off with a beautiful background melody.
After that, a male melody picks it up and carries it all the way to the chorus. Before long, everyone is belting and singing beautiful harmonies while working dance moves in as well.
By the time they hit the chorus, all the judges have huge smiles on their faces.
As their performance continues, it’s not hard to see that the crowd is infected by their positive energy.
Everyone in the audience starts clapping along with them as they keep singing their hearts out. Although Katy Perry started her career singing Gospel, the song “Roar” is a bit of an unusual choice for a Gospel choir.
Still, these performers brought it to life and presented it in a whole new way. When the performance is over, the whole group strikes a pose together.
At that, everyone erupts into applause and the judges all get on their feet.
Before anyone can even say anything, judge Amanda Holden hits her Golden Buzzer!
Though it goes without saying, everyone on stage is in tears after a moment. When all the emotion dies down, Holden explains that it’s so clear to see their closeness and their bond.
To echo that, judge David Walliams says that they’re all so talented that they could each probably be solo singers… but they still sing perfectly together as an ensemble. Finally, Cowell says that after seeing one of the worst choirs he’s seen, he’s now seen one of the best. As it turns out, getting back together was the best thing Revelation Avenue could’ve done!
