Being a pilot is no mean feat. The number of people whose lives depend on you whenever they board the plane you are flying is a huge responsibility.
With that kind of responsibility, a pilot definitely needs to be disciplined, has a high sense of responsibility and someone who’s completely aware of his role, which is why people naturally respect pilots who have been in service for many, many years. Pilots like Gil.
Gil is an American Airlines pilot and after his long years in service, he was finally making his last flight.
As a way to celebrate Gil and his amazing career as an airline pilot, his wife Catherine put together a special surprise that the man will remember for the rest of his life.
Gil was at a Kensington Hotel in London, after flying his final flight. While he was checking in, a group of men and women dressed in a flight attendant’s uniform approached him and asked if he was Gil.
After confirming that he was actually the person they were looking for, the group of flight attendants quickly went in the middle of the hotel lobby as the opening score of Frank Sinatra’s “Come Fly With Me” played in the air.
The group was actually a dance crew who were going to perform a flash mob dance number for the former airline pilot. To say that Gil was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. His jaw dropped and he was totally shocked to find out that such a performance was only for him!
The two pairs of dancers eventually increased as the music changed to a more lively song: Pointer Sister’s “I’m So Excited!” Gil was definitely excited as he watched the amazing performance unfold before his eyes.
The performance was put together by Katherine, Gil’s wife. It was a way for her to show how proud she is for his husband and his incredible contribution as a pilot.
Just when Gil thought that all was over, the music changed again and Jackson Five’s “ABC” played in the air. It was such a spectacular number indeed! Other hotel guests were also mesmerized by the performance and were taking videos of the fabulous performance.
When Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” filled the room, Katherine pulled Gil and guided him around the performers. The couple joined the dancers and everyone in the room went wild as Gil happily danced to the music. He was totally adorable!
Moments later, the music changed again and now, the performance has come to its finale with Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk”. Gil and Katherine watched from the sides as the dancers wowed everyone with their fantastic dance moves and choreography.
Before their dance ended, the dancers pulled Gil in the middle of the room and together, they made a final pose with the former airline pilot in their midst.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Gil’s dedication to his duty! He definitely deserved everything and more.
