There are so many talented people throughout the world, and the Got Talent franchise has brought many more of them to our attention.

Whether it’s singing, dancing or performing a talent that far fewer people have seen, these shows bring the world all kinds of joy and show that it’s possible to make it to the worldwide stage by following your dreams.

While we’ve seen all kinds of talented singers over the years, sometimes there’s something about a performance that stands out on its own terms. The performers sometimes bring enough personality to it that it lights it up in a new way.

That was the case for these two performers on Britain’s Got Talent.

The group in question called themselves The Ratpackers, as a nod to the classic Vegas crooners and performers from the 1950s and ‘60s.

For anyone not familiar, the original Rat Pack was an informal group of influential singers and performers generally considered to be composed of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop. Still, other American icons such as Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall deserve honorable mentions here as well! Despite this being a largely American phenomenon, the impact of the group has clearly had ripples worldwide—after all, these two are British and have still taken the image and delivery of the Rat Pack to heart!

When they get onstage, the duo announces that they’ll be doing “New York, New York”—and the judges aren’t sure how it’s going to go.

Fortunately, their concern was for nothing—which becomes clear as soon as the Ratpackers start to sing.

From the first words, it’s clear that the two of them have mastered this singing style! Their voices are particularly smooth and deep, fitting the song perfectly. At the beginning, it’s clear that they have the style down with their suits and hats. Still, it’s always a risky choice to take on a song that’s so iconic that it has to be done a certain way to succeed.

Regardless, these two nail every word and every beat!

Still, it gets particularly good towards the end of the song.

As the beat slows down, the two start swinging and the crowd follows right along with them. At this point in the song, there are a few vocal runs that they both flow through so smoothly while still making them their own!

At the very end, they hit the big finish perfectly and the entire crowd gets on their feet!

Needless to say, nobody was expecting them to nail it as much as they did!

It’s easy to forget how impressive the Rat Pack’s influence has been on the world, but these two made it so clear.

Although we’ve all heard the song “New York, New York” a hundred times in our lives, we don’t always listen to it particularly closely. For their part, the Ratpackers breathed new life into it and reminded us all of why it became such a classic in the first place. Of all the many talented auditions and performances we’ve seen on these shows over the years, this one is definitely a huge crowd pleaser!
