Elvis Presley would shake his hips and the audience would go crazy. This was especially true during Elvis Presley’s performance of “Hound Dog” on the Milton Berle Show in 1956. Mainstream television had never seen anything like his dance moves before and people either went crazy over him or shook their heads at him and his “gyrating hips.”
Tango dancers Miguel Angel Zotto and Daiana Guspero are staying true to the “Hound Dog” spirit by dancing a rock and roll tango to the classic song.
Tango is a partner dance that is known for its playful but sensual movements between the partners. It is also known for its improvisation. This improvisation has led to many different forms of tangos becoming popular over the years, such as rock and roll tangos.
“The core concept of the tango dance revolves around leader and follower, where [the] leader through their embrace gives openings to the follower what to do, and [the] follower then chooses how he will respond. The end result of this cooperative process can be a highly improvisational dance that fully captivates the attention of both the dancers and spectators,” Dance Facts explains.
“Hound Dog” is the perfect song for a rock and roll tango. Zotto and Guspero’s gyrating bodies would make Elvis Presley proud.
Zotto and Guspero were performing at the Antwerpen Tango Festival in Antwerpen City, Belguim. These two tango professionals had already performed three other times at the festival but they had saved the best for last. Zotto worked up the audience before Guspero made her entrance in a gorgeous dress. Once the two started dancing, you will understand why they chose this song as their finale at the festival.
Zotto and Guspero had their audience enraptured through the entire dance and they will leave you in awe as well.
Miguel Angel Zotto grew up in Buenos Aires listening and watching tango with his grandfather and father. His father was a dancer and actor. He has been professionally dancing the tango for over 35 years and known for spreading the popularity of the Argentine Tango all over Europe over 20 years ago. He opened the Zotto Tango Academy – Zotto Studios in Milan, Italy with his dance partner, Daiana Guspero.
Daiana Guspero started dancing the tango at a very young age. She has been professionally dancing wtih Miguel Angel Zotto since 2007. Alongside dancing wtih Zotto she teaches at the Zotto Tango Academy – Zotto studios as well. Guspero is notably known for her sensual expressiveness she beautifully displays in her dances. Guspero’s signature sensual expressiveness is gorgeously shown in her rock and roll tango with Zotto.
These dance partners have been dancing together for so long that the ease they have with each other is striking. They both know when to let the other shine and when their combined moves will really get the crowd shaking and cheer them on.
You will not be alone in loving their dance. Many, all over the world, have commented on their dance. Some commented,
