There is no one better to raise the school’s spirits than the principal.
After all, when you see the actual leader going at it, all the rest will follow. And follow they sure did!
Marie Hautigan ran out on to the field in an orange sequin dress, standing in front of the marching band and the other dancers to surprise and delight her students with her spirit.
“I had the honor to perform with the Piper Band of Pride at Homecoming. Big win! This is for every Bengal who goes to practice every day to be the best. I’m not as talented as you, but I respect your commitment to excellence. Shoutout to my teachers Lexus & Ciara. Love my Bengals”
This was the moment those high school kids knew that they chose the right school.
Principal Hautigan made the surprise appearance at Piper High School’s big homecoming game.
You can hear the crowd go wild at the sight of her out there.
Even the dancers ca’t help but smile!
She’s pretty fit for her age too!
Just look how light Marie is on her feet, bouncing and waving her hands in the air to catch her students’ attention.
And for those asking if she can dance, you bet she can!
The school didn’t have homecoming last year so Hautigan wanted this year to be big and special.
Principal Marie did just that.
The crowd went wild at her every move but it was the big finale that stunned all the boys and girls in attendance.
Hautigan drops in a split!
A viewer named Keets Leg knows Hautigan saying,
“She’s my daughter’s Principal. She is hands down the best. She’s cool but she does not play.
She even makes all the students take PreSAT tests every year. Can’t say enough about her! # GO BENGALS!”
Talk about being a positive driving force!
It may not sound like much to us adults but homecoming is everything to these high school kids.
It’s a great way to break the ice after a long vacation.
So missing an event is taking a part out of their lives.
There is usually a dance of some sort, games, and lots of other events to get these young adults in the mood.
Great way to meet up with old friends!
Principal Hautigan knows this and she knows it well.
Plus the marching band needs new uniforms so she’s hoping donations pour in.
With a performance like that, they’ll raise the money in no time!
“It’s said in an adage “An old woman is never old in a dance she knows how to dig” This must be a day students will never forget, a great motivator a real mother.”
Says another viewer.
Hautigan looks genuinely happy to be out there too!
How many principals would actually join in the school’s festivities?
She’s pretty lithe herself, able to keep up with the rest of the dancers before that super impressive split at the end.
A lot of teenagers can’t do a split and you know it.
It’s only been a few days but her high school spirit’s got over 475,000 views and counting.
Don’t be surprised if enrollees increase next year.
That’s a real leader right there!
