Amy Lou Smith, who works as a sunbed shop receptionist in the West Midlands, told Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli that she was 30 weeks pregnant before her audition.
Her charming accent had already warmed up the audience while the judges got to know the expecting singer.
She sings in her local town, entertaining in pubs and wherever else she finds a gig.
But this is her biggest audience.
She charmed the judges before she started singing, saying that she mainly sings in local pubs, saying ‘whoever will have me, really’.
Amy Lou attended the audition with her her parents and husband.
You’d think a woman 30 weeks pregnant would be resting and just waiting but not this mom.
She is radiant too!
Being pregnant doesn’t stop Amy Lou from impressing everyone, showing no signs of running out of wind or any pregnancy related difficulties as she belted out Beyonce’s “Listen”.
And would you listen to that voice!
This viewer was so proud of her friend too!
“This girl is my best friend and I’ve NEVER been this proud in my life! I’ve always known she was gonna get what she deserves and it’s finally happening! I’m bursting with pride!”
Amy’s powerful voice matches the song so well, and she hits every note with perfection.
Alesha Dixon had this to say, “Amy that was by far my favourite audition so far.”
High praise from powerful women!
Amanda Holden then added,
“The minute you started singing I was just covered in goosebumps.”
“I was thinking your baby’s probably having a lovely little sleep in there and then she’s gone “Oh here we go! – you are a star and I cannot wait to see what happens for you!”
Simon Cowell called Amy’s performance astonishing.
But he did wonder if they were going to experience their first birth on the show.
He said, “Well that doesn’t happen. Amy Lou from Birmingham – by the way my mum lives in Birmingham by the way so I am a Brummie. But i’m sorry it doesn’t happen.”
“You come out 30 weeks pregnant and I was thinking we could actually have our first birth on stage and I watched you watch the audience reaction and I don’t think i’ve ever seen anyone so connected in all my years of doing this. That was actually quite incredible.”
He continued, “Amy, this is your stage, this is your moment, and whatever happens next is just going to be amazing. Really you deserved this.”
The auditions were filmed back in January but Amy actually gave birth to her baby girl just hours before her audition aired.
Baby Aida arrived healthy, beautiful, and ready to rock the world just like her mom.
Both mom and baby had a taste of fame as nurses “swarmed” her room after the audition aired in the offices.
That’s one more in the audience cheering her mom on!
