Impromptu street performances most often turn out to be a spectacular little event, and those who witness them are lucky. It is particularly true for larger cities where something interesting is happening around every corner.

We take you to New York City, it’s an early spring afternoon, and the Korean dance scene legend decided to perform something quick. We bet you never knew that popping could be so entertaining.

At first, the charismatic drummer is angry because the crowd is filming him.

“I gave you $5,” complained a lady from the crowd, claiming her “right” to film the whole show. Finally, the drummer agrees and sits behind his improvised drumset.

You can see several pots, pans, buckets, and drums around him. The man’s got an exotic collection of instruments right there. Wait until you hear him play.

People seem attracted to what’s going on, and people begin to gather around the duo.

The other performer is standing by the drummer’s side, he’s silent, but the smile gives him away. You know that something extraordinary is about to unfold right in front of your eyes.

The dancer is wearing a long black coat, with colorful lines all over it, and oversized sunglasses complete the look. As soon as the drummer starts playing, the dancer shows off his fancy feet.

Surprisingly, the man who dances is none other than Poppin’ Hyun Joon, the pioneer of South Korean breakdancing.

Nam Hyun-Joon, better known as Poppin’ Hyun Joon, is famous for his popping techniques. He is also one of the most familiar names in the world of breakdancing.

Hyun Joon performed at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and he released his first album a year later. The successful dancer also starred in three films, and he is dedicated to promoting breakdance worldwide.

Popping dance became popular during 1960, but it took four decades until it rose to fame.

It is believed that Boogaloo Sam started the popping trend. Together with his brother and cousin, Sam formed a group called Electric Boogaloos.

Their dancing moves were explosive, snappy, characteristic, and different. It sounds a lot like popping, right?!

Hyun Joon performs some impressive moves, and the crowd goes ecstatic.

Just look how smoothly he drops to the ground and then quickly stands back up. It wouldn’t be so impressive just like that, but the man doesn’t use his hands.

He can pick himself up from the ground by using the strength of his legs. It must take a lot of practice to perfect such a smooth move.

By watching Joon, we’re not sure if he’s doing those tricks or if someone is pulling the ground below his feet.

Do you know how amazed you are every time you watch Michael Jackson doing the Moonwalk? Well, this is quite similar.

In the end, the drummer pushes one of the buckets towards the audience, asking people to reward such an excellent performance.

We have to admit it, the drummer is very funny. His charismatic way of asking for money has made us laugh a lot.
