Anyone who owns a dog knows how important training is. The way you bring up a dog will dictate how he or she reacts to other people and dogs, and will ultimately determine whether they’re a good dog or a bad dog (although we’d all like to think that every dog is a good boy).
Training a dog to walk on a leash properly can prove to be nearly impossible for some people. Even teaching a dog to sit or to shake your hand can be enough to make you give up on having a well-behaved dog altogether. However, there are some folks who just have the gift for getting dogs to listen to them. Whether or not that gift is simply patience, we’ll never know for sure… but it is most definitely a gift!
Dogs are capable of learning hundreds of tricks. Of course, some breeds are better at it than others. Collies and Australian Shepherds, for example, are great at agility, while beagles are great for sniffing out specific substances. Every breed has their own talents, even if that talent is mainly being a bundle of joy.
The dogs that take the stage for this America’s Got Talent segment as Pompeyo Family Dogs are all some variation on the poodle. Poodles are very smart dogs and are great at a lot of different doggie activities.
The first thing that Simon notices about this gang of pooches is their haircuts, which are indeed a bit unconventional.
But you can’t judge a book by its cover, as they say.
What this family does with their dogs is nothing short of astonishing. With seven dogs on stage all at once, it’s amazing that they’re able to keep any one of them focused on their tasks at hand. Getting one dog to do anything like this is a crazy enough feat. But, when you put this many dogs on stage together, it becomes infinitely more difficult! Dogs love to play with each other, but somehow, these pups have learned that when they are on stage, it’s time to focus and to know exactly when to return to their box, when to perform a trick, and when to sit still.
It’s also so great to see a whole family work together on something like this. The hours of practice must bring them all so close with each other. Their young daughter is learning so many great lessons about patience, empathy towards animals, and how to accomplish her goals through hard work and dedication.
All of that aside, the tricks that these dogs do are not simple! The whole thing may seem a little chaotic with so many dogs running around the stage doing a dozen things at once, but when you look at the skill needed for each trick, you can’t deny that this act is one of a kind.
Have you ever seen anything quite like this before?
These pups clearly have a ton of fun learning the steps to their routines. The energy that they give off throughout the entire thing shows how engaged and stimulated they are by all of the action.
